Nobody posted about this Epic?

Now that - apparently - several others have bought this aircraft - what do you think?  I am still happy with the experience.

Well, I made several flights with it, but I have to admit: I don't care about this plane. I prefer the Carenado Pilatus PC-12.

Oops...  The only thing I didn't like was the reverting back to the default "dry skid".  Never have liked that in the default X-Plane.  Easily fixed.

Sorry to ask, but what does that mean, John? It's a bit cryptic for me.

The plane itself looks great (from the screenshots) and I think the real one even beats the TBM900 figures. Very interesting release.

Creative approach on the GPS rendition that is.

Hi Cool

What I mean is the terrible screeching sound that has always been a factor in X-Plane.  This particular plane does not have a contact line under sounds that controls this sound.  Apparently, by not having a line for it, it reverts to the default in the basic X-Plane sound directory.  It can be corrected by modifying the file "skid_dry" to one that doesn't have a sound or one that makes a realistic sound rather than a screech.  I just "borrow" it from one of my other aircraft.  You can't just take the sound out, you have to find a replacement.  Otherwise, it will not start properly.  I just replaced the file under resources/sound/contact in the main X-Plane program, but you may just be able to add the line in the individual plane's file.

John

p.s. - The framerates in this aircraft are the best of any aircraft I have in my fleet...

Ah, understood, John. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Indeed, a very, erm, unique feature this sound.

I have the Epic and it is my go to ride at the moment. I can't compare it to the PC12 but I do have the Carenado TBM 850 in FSX SE. The Epic doesn't seem as visually good to me (it's not bad by any means) and the flying experience is a lot simpler (this may reflect real world realities) but I will continue to choose it over the TBM 850 in FSX SE because I find X Plane far superior to FSX

Hi John,

I agree about the tire screeching sound. It is overdone. Thanks for the tips.

Looks like Aerobask reads the forum because they have a new version of the Epic 1000 - v1.1.5. The sounds are much better.

It is a very nice machine - fast and great altitude capability.

Yes. Stephane very often tries to react on issues reported by users. Not everything is possible, but in general he's very active in updating his aircraft.

Sounds like awesome and fast support. I shall add this dev to my list. They have a DA42 too, right?

The DA-42 is a nice plane and well realised. If you're a bit of a boy racer be warned, it's not quite as fast as it looks. V3.5 is due out any day with some bugfixes and improvements.

Yes, this adds the "skid_dry" line and it is a very nice sound.  If there were other changes, I haven't seen them, but that is good.  It is a great rendition of this aircraft.

If you are reading this, thanks Stephane.
