Keeping VoxATC panel in switched views

Recommended Posts

I found a topic on this forum advising how to keep the panel visible when switching views (thanks to the original poster!).

"There is a line which can be added to the Vox window section of panel.cfg to any aircraft .....

type = special

That will keep the window up when switching views. This works for any window you wish to keep up.

////<VoxATC
[Window18]
visible=1
position=4
size_mm=400,200
pixel_size = 400, 200
background_color=0,0,0
ident=14077
zorder=5
alpha_blend=0.65
type=special
gauge00=VAGauge!VoxATCPrompt,0,0
////>VoxATC

It clutters up the view anyway, so using 'o' to toggle it on and off is nicer IMHO. OH, and the 'o' key only will work after you've enabled it btw."

But it just doesn't work for me. With the added  type=special the panel remain invisible and does not appear despite the 'o' key enabled in VoxATC.

Any ideas please?

Without the added line the panel is normal so, as a last resort, I tried amending the cockpit view mini panel by editing out the five instruments hoping to get a clear background with a switchable panel.

[Window05]
position=7
size_mm=631,100
child_3d=1
background_color=0,0,0
no_luminous=1
////ident=M

But these instruments still appeared with or without ////ident=M !

Any ideas please?

Fred

Why not just click right on the window and tick the "lock" selection.

My atc is always in top on Prepar3d and it takes a few seconds to arrange them. I have a 3 screens surround display and i pit vox on a side in the smallest window still readable.

Hi Kama2004

I like to run FSX in full screen mode on a projected screen. My instruments run on a client computer to other screens. Thanks for your suggestion but doesn't someone know why type=special fails me.

My system is WIN 7 64 and FSX runs perfectly.

You can try to add

always_visible=1

to the VoxATC panel.cfg

It works for me in P3D 2.5 but I don't know if this is specific to P3D.

Make sure Type=Special  (typed EXACTLY like this, Caps and all) is the FIRST entry in the [Windowsxx] section for the VoxATC window you want to freeze on screen.

Here is what mine looks like:

[Window20]
Type=Special
visible=1
size_mm=400,200
window_size=0.3,0.3
window_pos=0.05,0.05
background_color=0,0,0
ident=14077
zorder=5
alpha_blend=0.65
gauge00=VAGauge!VoxATCPrompt,0,0

For those who like me aren't confident to mess around with config and / or code just right click and undock it; I shrink to minimum necessary works ok

My panel entry looks like this

//--------------------------------------------------------

[Window19]

Background_color=0,0,0

size_mm=400,200

position=6

visible=1

ident=14077

pixel_size= 400, 200

zorder=5

type=special

gauge00=VAGauge!VoxATCPrompt, 0,0

It has worked in every aircraft I have added it to. I make two suggestions:

1) The "o" key only works after VoxAtc has been enabled.

2) Check other apps for a conflict with the "o" key.

Hi Kuragiman

As OP thanks for pointing out Make sure Type=Special. I haven't tried this yet as my sim is temporarily dismantled but I'll try it as soon as poss.

If you place it in the gauge exactly as shown it will work.   The VoxATC panel will not go away unless you tell it too.   As they said you can also LOCK it to the screen but this prevents you from having to do that first step.

Section - Panel Configuration

always_visible

Set to 1 to enable panel to always display, even when switching views. If panel is closed it must be manually reopened to once again automatically display when switching views. The default is 0.
