Adding Autopilot

Recommended Posts

Guest JustanotherPilot

Anyone know how to fit any autopilot from a Carenado or default aircraft into the C177, I'm disappointed that the option was not available with the Alabeo version considering the real world aircraft had several choices, although somewhat basic. Something to make flying those long legs a little less demanding and allow you to keep the flight going while your away from the computer.

The Alabeo C177 already has "autopilot_available=1" set up in the aircraft.cfg, so all you need to do is add a suitable autopilot gauge.  Unfortunately I don't know that this is possible in the virtual cockpit, but you can certainly add a pop-up gauge to the aircraft that will work fine.

Add the following sections to the C177's panel.cfg file:-

To the [Window Titles] section, add:-

Window03=Autopilot

.......now scroll down to just underneath the [Window02] section, and copy and paste this in:

[Window03]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=348,219
position=0
visible=0
ident=796
window_size= 0.190, 0.23
window_pos= 0.020, 0.190

gauge06=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio AP,           0,0

.........do the same for both the standard 177B and the RG version.

And you'll have your autopilot.

Here is a combo I use for test flights.

You will need to resize them to taste but they do the job.

[Window03]

background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=640,480
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=0
ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL
window_size= 0.500, 0.500
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000
Type=Special
gauge00=Bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio Audio,  1,1,640,100
gauge01=Bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio DME,  1,99,640,100
gauge02=Bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio Nav-Comm 1,  2,195,640,100
gauge03=Bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio Xpndr,  1,295,640,89
gauge04=Bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio AP,  1,381,640,100

[Window04]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=320,240
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=0
ident=110
window_size= 0.500, 0.500
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000
Type=Special
gauge00=Beech_Baron!Horizontal Situation Indicator,  1,1,325,244
