Finding a good website or example of fsx.cfg for my new config

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have just owned a new computer to increase my expérience about fsx and the PMDG 773  ^_^

I find a tutorial or a guy which have the same config as mine to optimize my FPS as possible.I have this configuration:

- I7 4790k 3,6GHz

- Gtx 970 4Gb

- 8Gb of DDR3

I want to use all of the following addons at the same time:

- PMDG 777-300ER

- Active Sky Next (for the weather)

- REX (only for the clouds)

- PrecipiteFX

- EDzok

- Sceneries

- VAFS (not an addon but a track flight for my virtual airline)

What fsx.cfg can i create or change to run properly all this beautiful addons ?  B)

Thanks a lot.

I would strongly suggest you use the suggestions in the AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide (see link to the guide to the right of this forum under Hot Spots).  The configurations work well for most members.

Hopefully your system can handle FSX and all of those addons. :Just Kidding:   Be careful with your sliders as you still cannot move them all to the max and enjoy your software on every flight session.  You will still have out of memory crashes if you are not careful.  There are also many more suggestions in the AVSIM Hardware Forums and in the AVSIM CTD Guide.

Best regards,

Two thoughts. First, the 4790k runs at 4.4Ghz (turbo mode), not 3.6Ghz. Second, the only "tweak" I'd make is to set the "Affinity Mask" to 84. Ignore everything else. Works for me. YMMV.

You say you followed xxxxx's guide, did you include the uiautomationcore.dll fix he talks about? There is a bug in FSX that specifically deals with CTDs when accessing the menus, fortunately it has a simple fix.

As far as the FPS drop when moving the mouse over the window, that is also discussed in Word Not Allowed's guide. Unfortunately it appears to be a quirk of FSX.

As far as FSX.cfg tweaks are concerned, I personally only use the aforementioned Affinity Mask tweak, and also the "highmemfix" tweak and UsePools=0, though the last is probably not always a good idea to use. Again, I think all three of these are discussed in xxxxx's guide.

You might consider using the DX10 Fixer. It can help with smoothness and also give more memory headroom, not to mention some nice visual enhancements.

Yes 84 is my conf too, installing active sky next it change that for me saying "Affinity mask is not properly configured do you want to configure now?" then he said me "Affinity mask was set to 84".

@Buziel-411

Yes i downloaded the UIautomationcore.dll from xxxxxs website.

I hope the CTD's crash are a old histories  B)

Sorry about your crashes.

I assume you have the most up to date FSUIPC version installed? FSUIPC helps reduce some cases of CTDs caused by "g3d.dll" errors, so definitely make sure it is installed and up to date.

Another possibility is your are just getting out of memory crashes. FSX can only use 4GB of RAM, and if it tries to go over that limit it will simply crash. Too many detailed add ons (like Mega Airports and the PMDG 777), unfortunately, cause these crashes, and turning the graphics up makes them worse.

Two ways to help avoid these are either using FSX: Steam Edition, or by buying and installing the FSX DX10 Fixer. FSX: Steam Edition is just a slightly updated FSX, which has some improvements that reduce crashes. I guarantee it will go on sale for $5 over the summer! The DX10 Fixer makes FSX's broken DX10 mode work properly, and FSX has better memory management when running under DX10. Personally, I am now using both of these together.

My memory usage seem to be fine but yes, maybe FSX DX10 is a good way too... i forget it, thanks.
