No I wouldn't like that, I love my FTX Cetral 2, keeps all my bits and bobs up to date

Just thinking about my comment more,   Sure if FTX is on Steam,  there will be no need for FTX Central as Steam keeps everything up to date anyway.

These sceneries are designed for default ground terrain and won't have Objectflow support and will use default FSX vegetation and autogen

During the 90-day exclusive period these two airports will be further enhanced to match their respective regions (whether that is an FTX region or FTX Global), and have Objectflow added

No, you will be able to buy the watered down version for SE and then in 90 days the full version will be released for MS FSX/P3D.

But in 90 days will they not have all the goodness of the Core Orbtx stuff ?  Object flow and so on

Only for the MS FSX/P3D versions. So now there will be 2 different versions a Lite and a Full. Full will not work with SE, at least that is what I understand. Or on the other hand maybe Full will work upon release with SE.

Every existing ORBX addon works fine with FSX:SE so far so why not the same with the lite versions upgraded to full? From what i can understand you will be able to install the full versions in FSX:MS, FSX:SE and P3D after the 90-day period from the launch of the lite versions available only in FSX:SE.

But to go from Lite to Full will you need to re-purchase? Many un-answered questions for sure!

Yeah, I think you are right, Oliver.

They are offering a 'lite' content for users of Steam. I guess a lot of those users aren't the type that want to spend too much time or money. Judging by a lot of youtube videos a lot of those users prefer to crash an aircraft into the ground and are not exactly hardcore.

In other cases they are giving folks the choice on the SE platform to buy the 'lite' version when it is released, or wait like the rest of us for the full version. Not sure why you would want to have to upgrade.

In any case it is obvious that orbx are getting their foot in the door with DT so that they can be one of the first developers on DT's supposed new FS. Maybe they'll sign further exclusivity agreements in that case.

Maybe Orbx is looking at the Lite version as both a 'beta testing' and 'crowdfunding' source.

In retail there is something called a lost loser. It is used to get you into the store where you are going to purchase more or become more interested in a product line.

I thought it was a "loss leader", but what do I know...

Precisely this is what is almost certainly the real reasons for this plan. It makes perfectly good business sense.
