Not a CTD, but just as bad; fatal freeze with Project Airbus

Recommended Posts

I think these are a growing problem that deserve a forum of their own; not CTDs, but the dreaded fatal freeze where the sound continues to loop but the sim quits responding. What's even worse is that these are not traced in the event log, so the problem requires more guesswork.

This happens occasionally in FS2004 due to a number of different triggers, such as switching windows or using the menus too much, however the Project Airbus A320 is one aircraft that is unusable as it triggers a fatal freeze about 5 minutes into a flight. I've tested a few different JetBlue variations. The IFDG model worked with no problem.

I'd like some help, I really want to get N606JB and some of the newer JetBlue liveries that IFDG doesn't have.

A fatal freeze is a crash to desktop.  Just because you have sound running in the background does not mean you didn't have a crash to desktop and you had to shutdown FSX.  The AVSIM CTD Guide covers freezes on page 11.

Is there a possibility that the textures that came with the JetBlue variations are corrupted?  Some people, experts included, think there is a magical solution to fixing all freezes (like the uiautomationcore.dll fix).  Sometimes this "fix" causes more problems than solutions.  I've never used it in any of my configurations since installing FSX on day 1 of its release.  I did have it in my main FSX folder unknowingly for some time but discovered it when I started seeing unexplained crashes.  It was found that a commercial developer was installing it with his addon software program.  When the developer found out his installers were doing that, he fixed it and the dll is no longer being installed unknowingly to some of our members.  I removed it and my crashes went away.

Your OP is not clear to me.  It appears by the last sentence that only one variation of the Jet Blue liveries is causing your sim to freeze.  If that's the case, then it is best you post in the FSX Forum on how to get a Jet Blue livery installed in your A320.
