Nvidia 352.86 ...!

Recommended Posts

Switched to the Realair duke turbine v2. Saw minor GPU usage on the 2nd 780. So I turn on all shadow check boxes  and brought the shadow quality slider to ultra or whatever is highest. Bam ~75% usage on both GPUs and best of all, ~40-50 fps. With all eye candy jacked up leaving the OOM sliders to the normal spots.

Oh rob, I suggested that tool DDU to you. I cleared out the shader cache yes. I checked NVI to see if there was an SLI profile and indeed there is.

That looks very much like shader cache issue ... did you delete your shaders folder?  i.e. C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Shaders

Also, I've found using DDU utility (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) provides best possible clean driver install and removes all prior "adjustments" be it NI or NVCP.

But I also don't use NI any more, no need for it.

Cheers, Rob.

It's smooth as butter now.  I am happy.  4790k @ 4.9 Ghz, SLI 780's, ASN, REX4, TrackIR  for those who are curious.

So then I turned off v-sync, with fps set to unlimited. 50-60fps with greater than 90% usage on both GPU's

Oops, I thought it was Jay or Vic ... oh well, I'm getting old and forget who's on first, second, third ... :)

SLI sounds promising ... can't wait for my 2nd GPU to arrive tomorrow so I can dig in.  Thanks for reporting back.

Cheers, Rob.

Well....   It looks like I need to build a new rig with SLI..    My current 2500k@4.6 gtx6704gb  is getting long in the tooth anyway

Will I be able to get by on my  corsair AX750 out of my current rig for my power supply?  I am thinking of going with dual 980's

Yes very good, i have used this myself and i am about to install my new drivers.  I understand ok the best way to do it is for a "clean install.    Question,  do i tick all the boxes or is some of it just bloatware,  do i need everything?

I have to say, I keep jacking up the settings, The GPU's work harder, the FPS don't blink. Turned up the cloud density to max and the distance to 110 NM. Turn on ASN's enhance overcast conditions, high detail thunderstorms and max cloud layers to 10.  I am very impressed. Watch out other sim who will remain nameless.

I uncheck everything but physx and geforce experience. I have a sound card and don't have 3d anything. Also don't have a shield.

Seems a bit smoother - outside graphic jaggies without NI still - hope P3D SP takes care of that - is this the official SLI driver for P3D - or is the one people have talked about in a couple of weeks the one ?

I did some testing with my 2 980's and initial results are very promising. FPS seem's to be better in my usual testing scenarios (FSDT KFLL and KJFK with the PMDG 777, NGX and the Carenado Phenom and TBM850 with heavy clouds from REX and Active Sky) but the increase in smoothness is very noticeable. I can pan around the cockpit and outside views with no choppiness. I also tried KSEA (ORBX PNW) and had much better FPS and while I had some choppiness when panning, it was significantly better than with older drivers.

Couple of issues:

1. If I change planes or airports, P3D reverts to one card. If I switch to full screen and back to windowed mode, P3D starts using both cards which is confirmed by the SLI indicator and by logging on Precision X 16. I think this is a P3D issue more than a driver issue but I could be wrong.

2. I now have an issue where the occasionally, my screen will go black but I can still hear audio and I can switch views. before anyone asks how I know the views change if the screen is black, the audio changes when the views change. The only way I can fix it is to restart P3D.

I'll post this on LM's P3D forum, maybe someone there has an idea....

Other than the black screen, it looks really good though but I'll do more testing in the coming days to confirm this isn't a placebo.

Runway lights also work so yay nVidia

Thank you David.

The new drivers seems to of fixed a weird problem i was having with the sun,  it has normalized it now.  It was looking a strange purple color up till tonight.  Much better now.

I noticed that too. I long press alt to make the menu go away or vice versa and sli kicks back in. Progress not perfection I guess. I get really crazy lights too at night. I always have for some strange reason when testing SLI prior to this driver release.

I believe Rob suggested deleting the shader cache. Didn't work for me but give it a try, YMMV

This is progress though...

Yes, I've done that twice.

Did some more testing and must say I like what I see so far. I increased my cloud layers to 8 in ASN and setup loaded the IMC preset with heavy rain and low visibility with the PMDG 777. FPS was in the 30's but absolutely no stuttering and very smooth.

I did notice the runway lights flashing on rolling down the runway but other than that, it was very good, much better than with my single 980. I was watching the utilization and did see when the system switched to one card when I played around with the menu, utilization on the 1st went to 60% or sometimes 70% but after switching between full and windowed, utilization across both cards was about 40%.

I have had a few instances where the driver crashed and restarted due to a kernel failure but have not been able to reproduce it with any level of consistency.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I also noticed a couple of white lines that seem to stretch to infinity. They appear to be somehow connected to the contrails. See below:

Thanks for all the reports ... can't wait to test this out tomorrow and look at my time between frames data.

Cheers, Rob.
