Found this after Windows Update

Recommended Posts

As usual NickN is right on the ball. I followed his instructions posted by romanchair (thanks!) and those 4 windows updates have now been removed and ignored just in case Microsoft try to install them again,

Windows Updates have also been changed to Manual.

I too did the same, Ray. Worst part about Nick's tips was not so long ago in another thread, he was slaughtered for his simming tips.

Yeah, I'd like to add my thanks for the H/U to romainchair

No problems guys, what ever help we can get between simmers is always welcome.

It may be a good idea to have the link pinned to make sure that others who may not be aware of this situation and are experiencing a droop in performance can have a look at their installed updates first to see if that can be the cause of their sim. acting funny.

Ray,

I have disabled GWX per the original post.  Do you think it is necessary to uninstall the KBs even if the GWX entries are disabled?  Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Todd,

I'm guessing that if it was as simple as disabling the GWX tasks Nick would have recommended that. It's best if you go through the whole process. It isn't as daunting as it looks. I've done it on all W7 computers - not just my FSX one.

My flightsim PC was the only unit where I disabled automatic updates, all the other PC's and laptops were not.  No worries, I followed Julian's instructions and have now disabled the set.  Thanks for the heads-up Julian.

Thanks to you and Badfinger for helping this nightmare end.

I want to also point out that in my case after the "Exorcism" an old friend reared its ugly head... KB2670838. Look for this one also and don't let it install or reinstall itself.
