No. It will prompt you to install the upgrade on the day it releases.

Re clean install of windows 10, why not install 7/8.1, immediately upgrade to 10 and then make a disk image. Sorry if this parrots another post. I noticed early on that guys were complaining about not being able to clean install their free upgrade.

 

EDIT: I notice that MS will allow clean installs. Please ignore this post.

There is a show about Windows every week on the Twit Network, and they said one change in Windows 10, will be that updates will be automatic and you will not be able to turn them off. I am not crazy about that idea.

Only on Windows 10 Home. Pro version people can delay those updates. The forced automatic updates are a good thing, but only for users who aren't "power users" like us.

In addition to security updates being installed automatically, everything that used to be "Optional updates" will also be installed automatically, such as drivers for anything you have plugged in, and video card drivers, and sound drivers, etc.

 

It's terrible idea, in my opinion.

You know... I have the tech preview installed on my laptop on a separate partition. As I was playing around with the start menu, i noticed my trackpad suddenly stopped working. It wasn't responding for at least 3 minutes. After that, I ran to Windows Update and guess what? It had installed an update for my trackpad software without ever asking me...

 

Imagine what will happen to people using W10 with FSX, and Windows Updates suddenly decides to install a graphics driver...
