Proud and loud!   These are the kinds of Liveries I really like to see.  It's one of the reason that Southwest Airlines is one of my favorite airline companies.   Their planes and speciality planes are beautiful to my photographer's eye.   I was glad I finally got the Spirit Digital livery in the air.  Been hunting that one for weeks.

DFW Airport built an observation point for people to enjoy aircraft landing and departing.    I just drive in, park, get out and start shooting.   Wish more airports had such locations.

Oh man, I'll have to try that out sometime... the past few times I've been there I've been in a hurry trying to catch flights.

I live around DFW but have never heard of this observation point. Where specifically is it located?

It's called Founder's Plaza. It's at the north end of the airport at the intersection of Texan Trail and West Airfield Drive.

Brian,

I can't believe you didn't get the big pigs. Emirates or Qantas A380's.

Here's one from rampside.

Awesome shots! Whenever I'm in town, I always head out there for some observing. Question: Is that Air China a divert or charter? I know Air China Cargo services DFW, but I didn't know they did passengers.

What's up with the Spirit Airlines aircraft with the old livery?  The engine cowling doesn't look like it belongs, as if it was replaced by a cowling from another craft...seems dodgy to me.

It's not unusual to use an old part like that when needed. I work for US Airway@DFW, this morning we had an A321 in American's new livery but a panel that covers the emergency slide on the L2 door was replaced with one in U.S. Airways livery. It looked very strange.

I don't know how I would take that if I was a passenger.  I mean, I know why, from a technical standpoint, but to the layman, you'd think that may shake some confidence on whether that plane is gonna come apart.

Ugh, what am I saying, the same would hold true for the Millennium Falcon, and she got by just fine. :)

The parts are all interchangeable. I've even seen parts from other airlines on an airplane. It's an aesthetic issue not an airworthiness one.

I know, but some people may call it into question.  Yeah it looked odd, but I get why it was done.
