C441 or C402?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking to get my first Flysimware plane, and the current sale prompts the question, which?

I have the X-plane MU-2, so it's either 441 or 402.

The 441 is newer but it's a turbine (and I've got the Caranedo Beech C90)  - I'd really like the old piston 402 - how much older is the 402 and how much improved is the 441?

How are VC and the sounds on the 402?

(Hope this isn't inappropriate for the support forum)

Cheers

Keith

I have the C402 and it's not bad.  The virtual cockpit graphics are not up to Carenado standards, but all of the switches, knobs, buttons, gauges, systems, etc. do actually work and work correctly with the exception of night lighting (it's on or off, no selecting certain areas of the panel or adjusting the brightness).  The flight model of the C402 seems to be very good.  Between the C402 and the C441, I don't think there were major graphics upgrades, so it really depends upon what sort of flying you plan to do.  Shorter hops and altitudes below 12,000' MSL and the C402 fits perfectly.  If you plan on longer flights at 16,000-35,000' MSL, then the C441 would be a better choice.

By the way, the C402 actually comes with two virtual cabins, one with passenger seats (commuter style) and the other lacks seats, but contains some freight.  Nice touch since the C402's have been used for both passenger and cargo hauling.

Hi Keith,

I agree to what stans says. Owning both, I like both of them for the versatility they present to me. Visually both are not on the Carenado level, but in turn they are much more frame-rate-friendly to run. If you are looking for a C402 similar AC I can recommend this one.

Cheers

Frank

Thanks all.
After some youtubing, I think the 441's a slightly better implementation, but the 402 is the plane I want for the flying I do.

At 50% off you might just as well get both.

The MU-2 is the pick of the bunch though.

Just jumped into the so-called "pool" with my first Flysimware aircraft--could not help myself at 50% off sale to pick up the MU-2B-60. After viewing the tutorials and looking over the manual I just finished my first flight. So far so good. Anyone else thinking about doing the same, might as well take advantage of the sale--I really did not want to pay full price for this a\c. Looking forward to my first long cross country. I want to see how the MU-2 compares to the B200 King Air whether it be Carenado's or Flight One's model.

If you have ASN then check out the weather radar thread in the FlySimWare forum.

PM me if you need help getting it installed.

Just did a leg down through Newfoundland last night with a massive electrical storm and lots of rain, the radar showed it perfectly and the raindrops on the VC screen with the wiper effects are just too cool.

Click on the screw heads on the windscreen pillars to turn off the green tinted side windows, there are loads of little details like this that you will stumble across.
