Safe method to remove FTX Global/Vector

Recommended Posts

After reading all those posts regarding GEX, I have come to decision that it's time to switch (I have both UTX products already and more than happy with them)

However, I have heard that un-installation of FTX products could pain-in-a-bee, since a lot of entries in terrain.cfg are at risk of washing away and mix-up. Unlike with other *cfg files, the only solution to have "clean" terrain.cfg is full P3D reinstall.

Therefore, if someone has proven method to do that, you'd be much more than welcome to share

Hi,

Global Base comes with an uninstaller wich you can find in the ORBX start meny entry, An official recipe for removing Vector can be found in the ORBX forum, just search for it.

Kind regards, Michael

The only important issue to worry about is to make sure you have returned P3D to the default state as far as vector and textures are concerned - any carryover for the UTX/GEP3D install will cause massive problems down the line.

Frankly, I'd probably advise a clean reinstall of P3D to assure a good baseline for the change. Good opportunity to divest your setup of anything else you don't need - like any FTX addons that were specifically added because you already had the ORBX stuff.

That's truly depressing. :-(

Why ? A good deinstall and reinstall should be on every proper simmers agenda, every 6 or 12 months. Normal `housekeeping` is still beneficial for P3D, just as it was for FSX.

The difference is where FSX had two updates and that was it, P3D is still evolving so those fresh installs could prevent heaps of problems down the line.

Never have I had to reinstall FSX or P3D...

Reinstalling it every 6-12 months is not needed if one takes good care of the one pc ....

Ditto.   Once the kitten is purring just keep feeding her saucers of good warm milk to keep her happy.  No need to bring out the nukes and fry the entire site from orbit.  :)   I only reinstall the whole shebang if a major update is upon us from LM.
