Get your NGX Ready!

Recommended Posts

Attention 737 Drivers:

Get your NGX Ready for Reboot!

To install Reboot, you will need a clean 737 panel.cfg with no entries from FS2Crew NGX Legacy on it.

To get a clean panel.cfg:

Easy method:

*Re-install the PMDG 737 NGX (SP1D version).  That will refresh your panel.cfg file and restore it to its original condition.  This is the easiest method.

Slightly more involved method:

*Using Notepad, open the NGX panel.cfg file and remove any current FS2Crew entries from your current NGX panel.cfg.

If you use #2, make sure you do a thorough job. Use the Search command to double check there are no FS2Crew entries on your panel.cfg file.

Panel.Cfg link:

SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 737-800NGX\panel\panel.cfg

So what should I search for?

Could we also just uninstall the old and start brand new with the new Reboot?

Does this mean a release is imminent today? Don't want to go removing stuff I might still use too far before it actually gets installed.

I have the same question.

We're looking at Friday/Saturday.  Good chance we'll make it.

We just want to start setting people up now.

Correct "FS2Crew" will locate all.

Frankly, though, re-installing is easier.. less chance to muck something up.

Can I assume in addition to either scenario used to clean up the panel.cfg, a uninstall of the original FS2Crew 737 NGX program is also necessary?

Good question. In your testing Bryan, is a install over the top fine, or uninstall a better idea

You don't need to uninstall the old legacy FS2Crew NGX product.

You can keep it installed.

But Reboot uses different panel.cfg entries than Legacy.

You cannot have Reboot and Legacy on your panel.cfg file at the same time.

Cheers,

Reboot and Legacy are separate programs, with different file names, file paths, etc.

So when you install Reboot, you're not overwriting any Legacy files.

They are totally separate.

What? But my kids come back from camp on Friday. :Silly:  That doesn't work for me at all. I am so impatient. Still looking forward to it!  :Big Grin:

Are you serious Bryan! Just when I'm about to fly to Tennessee to go volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. I guess I'll have to wait an extra week.  :P
