  • About Me
I am a registered nurse (RN) in the United States. My home state in Arizona. I worked in psychiatry for 10 years and now progressive care medical. I have also worked in surgery before becoming a nurse. I have been flight simming since 2003. My other hobbies include, but not limited to, fly fishing, travel, motorcycles, reading, photo and video editing, scanning and amateur radio. I am a jack of all trades and master of none.

  1. I never had a CTD with the Majestic in FSX, and my system wasn't very high end. CTD is usually a problem with more complex add-ons, multiple add-ons, traffic, scenery, et cetera. I don't track my performance with each add-on, but PMDG seems to be on par with any GA I fly. I even feel like the G1000 or G3000 gives a little stutter here and there, so it's hard to say. I do think the Fenix is likely the most performance hungry add-on I have, but it has a lot of system depth you won't find in the PMDG.
  2. Gotcha, lol. I was like OMG how awful. I don't even like hand-flying GA very much in the sim. It's just too tedious. But yes, the final approach phase to landing for sure.
  3. It's a sim, so anything is possible, but you are required to be on AP in RVSM airspace. You only "hand-fly" for turbulence or re-trim, but the FAA and airlines companies essentially mandate you have AP engaged for cruise. It's just not a realistic expectation to hand-fly a passenger jet for long distances in the real world, so I don't think sim pilots who like to recreate realistic ops should be expected to either. Some pilots might keep AP off to 10,000 feet, whereas others go on very early. However, It's not the norm to forgo a perfectly operational AP in a busy aircraft when you have so many other things going on.
  4. This is very exciting! Those sounds were just amazing!!
  5. Never had a problem. My regimen in to set elevator trim to the bottom of the green line (mostly upward), rudder in between neutral and the T/O position (T/O position for strong winds at the surface). After take off, gear up, flaps up, YD on. Pitch for about 140 knots, engage IAS, HDG or NAV, then AP on. Inertial separator off when clear of icing conditions, 850 mode on anytime. Remember that turning the inertial separator off increases torque, so have 850 mode on or decrease power well below the yellow line first. Decrease RPM to 1900. She will climb to ceiling without any issue at that IAS held speed. The TBM850 from Black Square does have an issue where the sound will change and the power will drop, but it's a sim limitation with having that additional torque feature (850 mode). The power decrease doesn't happen on every flight either. Not sure what triggers it. As speed increases at cruise, straighten out the rudder and keep the ball centered. On approach/final you will need to move the rudder offset again for the slower speeds. For descent, use standard V/S mode. I use the GPS (GTN 750) as a guide for my required FPM.
  6. I don't really fly helicopters, but this looks really nice. Great job.
  7. I can't ever get these 4K screens to post sharp. Very annoying. Anyhow, I love that we have B2. The announcements work for me, the GSX integration is great, the visuals and sounds are mostly great. However, I find that she still floats way too much when winds are high on landing. The ground handling is like sliding on ice. Ground handling was perfect before. It's much harder to maintain centerline. She loaded sunken in the ground for some reason. I did get the "retard" callout multiple times on this landing (yes, Fenix is aware). I do not like that the landing lights great a haze, which is something the A2A Comanche and HondaJet also do in any atmosphere. I have not had my AP disconnect (using TCA Airbus controllers). I've not had any freezes or performance problems. The EFB icons disappear at times, but you can still access the apps. I have had the EFB glitch out and essentially displace out of view, but it corrected after a few seconds. In the grand scheme of things, once these bugs are addressed, it'll be rather perfect. I'd like a different ground handling and less floaty FDE, but I know this might just be a subjective issue.
  8. I replicated with flight using the Spirit livery, default LAX and FlyTampa LAS. No freezes, but the plane did load sunken in the ground, so I had to reload and switch gates.
  9. They work great! https://kb.fenixsim.com/cabin-announcements
  10. Yes, the EFB linked perfectly to my iPAD. MCDU worked as well. Very nice.
  11. Ahh, I did forget my beacon, lmao. That was possibly why. I'll see what happens on the next one, cause everything else was fine.
  12. Also, you don't have to arm LOC for an ILS. Just press APPR.
  13. First flight with B2. GSX loading fuel and Pax was smooth. I don't see how we're supposed to engage pushback. I ended up using GSX menu and it work, so I'm wondering if that's the norm? In other words, using the EFB to load Pax and fuel but GSX for actual pushback. Not real keen on the FDE. Ground handling is weird for sure. Plus, it seems that FBW doesn't translate well. I pull back to rotate and if I let go of the sidestick it drops the nose some. I was always under the impression FBW held your last input regardless of your sidestick position being centered. 🤔
  14. I was over Guyana last night with the Comanche. It was bouncing around a lot considering I keep turbulence on low for the Fenix and others that don't play well with higher settings. I'll have to see of that applies to other add-ons. My experience is similar to yours Robert.
