  1. The DC6 looks like its going to be a tour de force for PMDG, but I have to admit I do feel quite ambivalent about the plane itself. I think this is because I am not a fan of the old turbos, I suspect I will get it as Iwill probably do a review, I just cant get excited about it. Wycliffe
  2. Sorry guys but you are missing the point, Facebook is valid method of communication whether it be to a like minded community or distant family members. It's immediate and accessible. To dismiss it out of hand is narrow minded and blinkered in my humble opinion. Further to suggest people of a certain age have no interest in social media is offensive.
  3. Artur i am deeply offended by your comment. I am 62 yrs old I have a facebook account, twitter feed, Instagram and a youtube channel. My Facebook group is one of the premier facebook groups dedicated to Xplane and my Youtube channel continues to grow with new subs each day. I use Periscope and Whats app. Your Comment suggests that over 40s are not tech savvy and have no interest in the multimedia experience. For those who do not embrace the world of multimedia I'm sorry to say but you are luddites, on the other hand any technology sufficiently advanced enough for others not to understand it, might consider it to be nothing more than magic. 4. This thread was posted to me this morning and I thought having read it how good it is. I have been using xplane 10 since 2012. I knew from the first flight that it was going to be the best simulation platform on the market. I like countless others had spent a small fortune on FSX, but found myself spending more time fixing, fiddling, tweaking than flying. It was time for it to go, I have never looked back. I had managed to make a name for myself in the flight sim community just by being a good egg, controlling on VATSIM and helping peopple with what little knowledge i had about FSX that I could. I have since converting to xplane become a scenery developer, a well respected beta tester in the xplane world, I have met with some of the most respected developers in the xplane world and created Xplane Dedicated. A facebook group, a youtube channel, a live broadcast channel on twitch TV and a scenery development group called XPDDG. All i ask of anyone that joins is that they follow the simple rules. I have built a community that will never call anyone stupid, will not shout at anyone and only has family friendly language. I have only banned 8 members for breaking these rules, I think that is a good record. I have done all this just to promote xplane. I recieve no monies for anything I do. It's really quite simple. The releases pending in the next couple of months will blow everything that is available on the other platform clean out of the water, but that said, as I always say if your happy with your sim of choice an it works for you then just keep flying. I dont really care what others fly, I'm just happy that I saw sense and now can fly trouble free. All the best Wycliffe Barrett www.facebook.com/groups/xpdedicated www.youtube.com/wycliffeb www.twitch.tv/the_xpd
  5. just create some views with ctrl + numpad key, then you hit the numpad key of your choice to go to the allocated view. Wycliffe
  6. Brilliant picture, I thought that Sarah was quite amusing when she was doing whatever it was she was doing politically. She did come out with a whole series of howlers that made for great news coverage over here in the UK. I particularly liked this one. "He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed." --Sarah Palin, botching the history of Paul Revere's midnight ride, June 3, 2011 Wycliffe
  7. Hello Being the OP of the post over on the xplane forum and the OP of that thread I feel that perhaps the titl eof the thread has caused some confusion. first off release imminent or otherwise of the VATSIM Member Development Team of a new pilot client is pure supposition on my part. I have no hard and fast facts or dates. The development team have made it quite clear that they will not be driven by the members desire but their own success regarding the development of the client. It is in no way connected to Fsinn, Squawkbox or Xsquawkbox and what developers of those products may or may not be doing. It will be a completely new cient. My original and first post in the xplane forum written in Feb of this year, was indirectly a plea to Mr Ben Supnik and I qoute:- >>Ben, here is where my post addresses you directly, unfortunately your product Xsquawkbox is the only one to market and although there are several cross platform projects taking place in the VATSIM world, converting Xsquawkbox to 64 bit would be the quickest answer. So I am asking once again if you can possibly find the time to do that conversion. I freely admit I am not a programmer, I am more of a visual creator, (picesean) so I have no idea how long it would take for you or anyone to apply the 64bitSDK to Xsquawkbox or if its a total rewrite of the programme, but i do ask if you might not consider spending a little of your finite time on Xsquawkbox. I hope you and all your family, friends and the rest of New England have recovered from the lurgy. (Bubonic Plague) << I recognised the fact that at the time of writing Mr Supnik was heavily involved in work concerning xplane and its 64 bit release etc and that he had finite time. I hope this clears up any confusion that I may have inadvertanly caused. Yours faithfully Wycliffe Barrett
  8. +1 without a doubt and is exactly why I think xplane is the future. Wycliffe
  9. Ricardo, if you take note of what I wrote I was very clear about which aircraft I was talking about and the status of the VC. The VC is being developed EADT have stated it will remain freeware along with the full aircraft which is the x737 Wycliffe Captain Have you listened to Robert Randazzo's keynote address when he discusses Laminar and the work his team are involved in with them. You should give it a listen. Some of his comments around the thinking behind Microsofts failed Flight experiment are enlightening. Wycliffe
  10. I switched to Xplane last year after having spent hundreds if not thousands (including PC upgrades) of £s in getting FSX to run. It worked well and gave me 30fps but with numerous CTD's, OOMs and it was never stutter free. I don't have any of that with xplane i have a steady 50/70 fps depending on situation. We have 64bit capability, we have a T7 comparbale to any of the PMDG aircraft I have owned and whatever money I am spending on xplane is only what I would have spent on the ailing FSX platform. In fact at present in the past year I have spent less money on Xplane than I would have spent in a year with FSX and there are literally thousands of high quality freeware airports available for Xplane. I have myself become a 3rd party freeware developer and created several airports. We dont really need to wait for PMDG when we have Ramzzezs (T7) and Jardesign group (a320neo) making aircraft. The superb 737 from xEADT is the best flight model of a 737 I have ever flown and a freeware 3dvc is being made for that as I type. Even the default Cessna is a visual treat and better than any default aircraft in FSX. This is not hyperbole this is fact albeit from my pespective. All that said I think the reason there is a delay over the T7 by PMDG is that they want to do a simultaneous release onto FSX and Xplane. It makes sense from a business perspective. As has been noted there are a lot of people out there who still fly FSX and will continue to do so, so it makes sense to release onto both platforms. It's what I would do if I was in Mr Randazzo's shoes, and As we all know he has stated that his team are working very closely with laminar to understand the laminar/Xplane software environment. Wycliffe
  11. Buy xplane10, it's a good solution. I did and have never looked back. Wycliffe
  12. Push Throttles forward, pull control column back. If houses start getting big pull back if houses getting to small push forward. Simple.
  13. Hi Someone wanted a review of the a320 from jar design go here http://asn-xp.aerosoft.com/?page_id=238 This review is based on the initial release version. If you have xplane 10 then this is the payware aircraft to buy, along with the triple 7 by ramzzes and phillipp. Wycliffe
  14. How about this for a conspiracy theory, based on Mr Randazzo's recent keynote address at Fancom. I reckon the team are working with Laminar in an effort to get the T7 ready for a simultaneous release for FSX and X-Plane. It's not oustside the bounds of possibility, we know for a fact that Ramzzes and phillipp have had to put back the release of their 757 because of some issues that have arisen with upcoming releases of X Plane and their aircraft, the same thing could be happening with PMDG and their T7. Well that'ss what I think -_-
