  1. I just went to the link you referred to with both the dll.xml and exe.xml ahd it said that there were no errors in either file. Thanks for the help and link. I guess I will have to look elsewhere. Any suggestions? I just opened the files in notepad++ and it also didn't show anything different except it yellow highlighted the ? in the first line at each end. I don't understand this program very well since I just downloaded it at your suggestion.
  2. I have included my dll.xml file and pictures of my problem. I have attached four pictures. Picture "1st startup aOK" shows starting up FSX without the dll.xml file active in the roaming folder. It shows a normal screen and I then startup a flight. "1st startup bOK" shows the menus across the top as normal but without all of my addon programs showing. "2nd startup screen with dll.xml" showing the extra picture of the aircraft on the screen which also causes slow loading of the sim and menu bars not working but still loading with everything slow in the sim. "2nd startup flight with dll.xml" in sim shows all of my menus working properly but with slow loading of scenery and panel. I am puzzled for sure. Check out my dll.xml file and see if you see any errors. 3. I have been fighting for weeks to fix an assumed corrupted dll.xml file that changed after an addon. I renamed it and ran FSX without one and still had my menus but without the addons, except the REX WX Advantage Radar in the addons pull down. I must have another file that is allowing the menus to show while flying but I can's find out where. Any help would be appreciated. I also have an out of place picture of the aircraft picked when I choose another airport from the startup screen. Even without the dll.xml file active. Must be simple but not for me. I need help.....fisheye
  4. If you have an NVidia video card then download their NVidia GEforce Experience software as it includes a free video recorder that doesn't put any load on the CPU and works great. I have been using it for at least six months without a problem and great videos without stuttering and pauses.
  5. When this happened to me I found that if I start task manager with ctrl-alt-del then FSX re appears magically for some reason and the task manager goes to the background. fisheye
  6. I sure hope you are right because I just went through my folders and found 7,672 texture.cfg files that most need changing. Impossible for me to do without a batch file to use. fisheye
  7. This is a very interesting topic and one that I never heard of before. However after checking just my aircraft folder I realize that this task is daunting at the least. What is needed is a batch file to make these changes because there are many hundreds if not thousands of lines of code to change. Just one of my airbus aircraft had over thirty aircraft that had a texture folder that needed this change and that is only one of many hundreds on my particular system If I was sure of how to write a batch file I would do it myself but at my age my memory is a little shy of this ability without much research. fisheye
  8. Now for the Monkey wrench; I have the opposite problem. I had a C: hard drive crash and installed a new one. I had installed FSX Acceleration on the D: drive which was OK. I then reinstalled Windows 7 Pro 64 on my C:/. I installed my C:/ backup from the external Seagate USB Backup drive using their software. To create the registry I had to reinstall FSX and Acceleration first then I reinstalled FSX Steam. Now I have the opposite problem with Steam not sensing FSX Boxed installed and changing the names to FSX_SE. Now it is using the same folders as the boxed version and has over written and mixed up all of the configuration files like the fsx.cfg, scenery folder, pictures folder, and many more. I have uninstalled FSX-SE twice but nothing changes on the next install. If there is a file that steam searches for when having a parallel copy of FSX installed then it is not finding it on my machine. This whole thing has created quite a mess. fisheye
  9. If I am not mistaken there is a function inside FSWC that lets you reset your water settings back to the default FSX. Then you could start again from scratch.
  10. Too much information required to sign up on you site. You don't need my year of birth. Forget it..
  11. Same thing happens with Megascenery California North, Central, South. Especially in Los Angeles. I hope someone has a fix. It looks like the default scenery with the lights is covered up with Megascenery. As I fly by and look back I can see some of the tiles starting to light up behind me. fisheye
  12. Andrew; My experience shows me that what ever is active in FSX when you start the program tends take longer to load the first time it is started after a re-boot. The second time it is loaded it takes less time because the program stores a lot in cache. This is also why others have been so strong on using SSD drives because of their faster access time in loading FSX and accessing files during flight. The smaller the active files in the program are trimmed the faster it loads and also the bulk to access during the running of the program is reduced. If you deactivate aircraft then the start time for FSX should improve however my experience shows that it does not improve frame rates unless you have a lot of AI which will slow things down. However Scenery is a different matter. Deactivating a substantial amount of unused scenery in a profile will free up the amount of data that FSX has to keep track of. This does increase the efficiency and smoothness in the flight. The side effects that I experienced with smoother, a little higher FPS and sharper visuals were not documented by the developer and he says that the program was not designed with this in mind. My personal thoughts after trying to discover the reason for this positive experience was to look into the fsx.cfg file and see if there was any difference to my original file. Since SimStarter does not over wright any of the FSX configuration files inside the original installation because it copies those files that you make changes to and saves them inside each profile so each one is different from the other. What it did do to my original fsx.cfs was to clean up the order for the lines of code and move all files above the "trusted" entries and eliminate all spaces, and changed some of the font sizes. This may have been the reason that caused my sim to run better but I have not gone back and tested this outside of SimStarter yet. But the effect is noticed even outside of Simstarter just running FSX the normal way. Anyway it works for me and I just wanted the community to know what I experienced and make up their own minds. Hope it works for you half as well as it did for me. fisheye
  13. Most questions about how the program should improve your FSX performance would be better asked of the developer "pero" whose email address is in my previous posts in this section. But I think you are on the right track. I also think the initial reason for the design of the program was to make configuration for specific flight parameters easier and only have to be done once inside SimStarter instead of each time we fly having to configure again however the program is growing with abilities with every upgrade. The side effects I personally have seen on my system is smoother flights, slightly higher frame rates and very much improved sharpness in my scenery visuals especially with photoscenery from Megascenery. Each persons preferences, system specs. and add-ons installed will affect how this program is perceived to benefit them. It is best to download, install, learn and determine for yourself the benefits you see on your system. The only thing you can loose is time. Anyone can speak generally to questions you have but unless you test it yourself you will never know for sure if it works for you or not. Had I not seen benefits on my system I would never had posted my conclusions here for everyone to question. It is like everything else in life, don't take anyone else's experiences as truth, live only your own. fisheye PS. It looks like there is at least three of us old timers here since Holland_Holland joined in. LOL
  14. Manny; capt. pero is the builder and his email address is capt_pero@web.de I am sure he wouldn't mind the questions. He is happy that people are starting to recognize his hard work and indepth programming. He is still fine tuning the program so the more people using it the better especially with new ideas for inclusion. Enjoy. fisheye PS you have been a member only a little under three months longer than me. ;-)
  15. Fortunately it is not another add-on since it runs outside of FSX, P3D, DX10 before starting the Sim with pre configured flights and situations of your choice. Helped my situation ironically.
