  1. Thank you for the info. I’ll have a go at the edit of the panel cfg, but does it make the VC look like the DME was “built in”, so to speak, or is it a pop up panel, do you know.? cheers
  2. Hi, I love flying my glass cockpit planes, and the A320 with GPS and FMC etc, but I also like to fly Jen’s DC 4 and navigate via VOR etc. The VC is good but I do not see a way of knowing how much distance is left to the next VOR . I know I’m flying towards it, but how far is it? Am I meant to know in the cockpit, or was that info not available to the pilots of yore,! I can cheat using FS commander for the “tactical” view, but I choose not to. But if I’m missing a setting of some instrument in the VC in order to inform me of the distance to the next VOR, I’d be obliged if someone could guide me how to use it. Thanks
  3. I use the project Airbus on windows XP,! It is the best plane I have . I think it is great. I use it with the Honeywell fmc. My fps is set at 30. only big cities reduce it.
  4. Thanks fellas, for your replies. This old brain isn’t what it was😀. Didn’t really understand from airernie how I get briefsim plans into FSX flight planner. That would be necessary because Honeywell FMC only uses FSX flight planner . As it happens, I can use FS Commander, and in that I can insert sids and stars into a flight plan which it says I can then save in FSX flight planner. However it seem the S and S don’t seem to get to the Honeywell fmc, and if they do I’m not sure how they are implemented. So, to stay sane 😀, I might as well carry on using Honeywell to get within 30 miles of destination and then use GPS for approaches . Thanks again. Wish I had a flight sim club in Dorset, UK for some face to face learning😁
  5. Using flight planner in FSX, I can’t find a way to put in sids and stars. However, I use FSCommander, and in that, you can insert sids and stars into its flight planner. Apparently you can then save it into several things ,including FSX flight planner. Not sure if it fully does that. I have now found Honeywell FMC, which uses FSX flight planner! But, I can’t see the sids and stars used in the FMC. But that could be my limited understanding of the FMC!…. Has anyone used S and S in this Honeywell FMC, if so, where can I learn to do it? Thanks
  6. I'll try that.( out of curiosity because I have solved the problem) . I have also downloaded this plane from the flight sim.com site and that plane works fine. As I said in my original post, I find the problem in VC. There is no problem in non VC. I take it your remedy is for VC view?
  7. Hello i have added this plane to my FSX hangar and it looks very good . I am keen to fly it,but the Lear autopilot does not work in the VC. All other functions in the VC work that I have tried, but this does not. I am talking about the unit at the centre top of the VC. where changes in pitch and turn can be made. It works in the No VC view. of course this makes it impossible to fly properly in VC . does anyone know how to fix it please.? The website shown in the documentation no longer exists. Thank you
  8. I know this is an old thread but it speaks of the two versions I am a little confused about. If I may ask a couple of questions 😀 I think I have the latest version of the c47. It surprised me because it has a modern looking autopilot , like those in Beechcraft etc. it has garmin GPs thingy ( unfamiliar, as you may have guessed!). my main problem is finding how to input a ils frequency in Nav radio. I cannot see where or how to do it. Can someone tell me please. also, I cannot find cowl flaps? it looks excellently done. also, am I right in thinking that I cannot have the c47R v3.12 version in my airplane folder as well as this latest version? TIA
  9. Thanks , but I'm not sure what FS title bar is. as I say, I get the green bar display but the value is "=0" if I don't have a title bar, is there another way to "select" the top of the four rows, as that is the one I enter the 024C in.
  10. Tried it again. I was in windowed mode. Got the same value , i.e. =0. i put the input 024c, and 024C- tried each in turn. , in the top row, as per the illustration in this thread. Im now flummoxed. No big deal, but would have been nice to see it.
  11. Ok, I will try it .i will redo the inputs and this time try windowed mode. i am using XP.
  12. Yes, you might well be right, but I have since ( earlier today) seen references to this fsuipc function as working in both registered and non registered? I just don't know why they say that, if it's registered only . It must have been obvious😀
  13. Hello. i have read this old thread. I know it's really old, but t says it does say how to see how much VAS you are using in real time. I did what it says( I have FSX sp2) """OOMs seem to be plaguing some people and I just found out how to continuously monitor your VAS through the title bar of FSX using FSUIPC. I have the registered version of FSUIPC so I am unsure if purchasing that product is necessary to implement this trick. How to implement: 1. FSX Menu bar | Add-ons | FSUIPC ... 2. Select the Logging tab 3. Enter an Offset of 024C (that's a zero) 4. Enter a Type of S32 from the drop down box 5. DO NOT check the Hex checkbox 6. Press OK Now you have a continuous readout of your VAS usage on the FSX title bar. This suggestion works with people using FSX in windowed mode ... I am unsure about the other option (full screen)."" i know it's an old post, but I have just done what it says here in a Trident flight , and the green bar comes up , but the value shows =0. i was expecting a long number. The flight went on OK. the Fsuipc is not registered. Is that why the value wasn't showing right? any advice please?
  14. Understand what you mean. Have a google at Maltby FSX planes- there is a website where David Maltby has some FREE classic planes - 1-11; Comet Trident VC10 The latter may not have a VC. But the others have and all switches as per the real cockpit are depicted and work. i fly them almost exclusively- they are the best cockpits of any plane I have seen including payware. No FMCs. Proper flying where individual auto and semi auto pilot systems have to be learned. Originally made for FS9 they have now been made for FSX too. Install instructions on site And all this is FREE. See what you think. cheers
  15. Hello Bonan There are some really good classic airliners out there. Trident- Comet- and BAC 1-11. They are FREE! I fly them all the time and they have the best virtual cockpits of any - ANY - airliner out there. As you know, their autopilots were really semi - auto - The Trident was nearest to the modern stuff- and these virtual planes have very accurate VCs. Almost ALL the switches work - using the mouse to click on them. Lights- heating- everything. They were created by a David MALTBY. If you google maltby FSX planes I'm sure you'll find the website. Explore it fully because the planes were originally made for FS9- but he has also made planes for FSX. Download and install instructions are given- and you won't be disappointed. These are all i fly now, under IFR - I leave the modern stuff to the FMC boys. I like to search my cockpit for the right switches- which are so individual. I was surprised that none of the replies referred to these planes. They are the best discovery I have ever made for FSX. And they are FREE- Enjoy.
