About Me

  • About Me
I have been simming on and off now for the last 16 years. One of my all time favorite sims is Fly! for the Mac.
  1. Great screenshots! I have a daughter working there, and I will be visiting her at the end of the month. As usual, I will be in a window seat, on the off chance that I may get lucky with the weather and the approach to LGA to be able to take a good shot of Manhattan on my iPhone. 😁
  2. I am an FSBuild junkie, and have used it for the longest time and it has become like an old friend. Others like PFPX have stepped up to the mantle with better graphics and more features, but FSBuild has remained for me the best tool for flight planning once you get past its quirky user interface.
  3. The Coolsky has a great tutorial mode and you'll generally get better frame rates from it compared to the Maddog.
  4. I don't back up per se, but use the freeware Pathsync to keep two external drives in sync. These drives are where I keep all my critical data. Works for me.
  5. Also a daily diet of Candy Crush and Angry Birds.
  6. On behalf of the Pacsim development/beta team, can I just say that: 1) Graham is currently packing to move from West Virginia to Salt Lake City permanently, and 2) He is trying to iron out a transfer between the old hosting provider to a new one, which he hopes to sort out by next week. Once everything is up and running development work will continue. Thanks for all the support! Syed aka Bushflyer
  7. Thank you very much for an excellent review of REX 2.0.There were at least three instances in the review where the documentation, daytime textures, and user interface were mentioned as being suburban in origin. In future please reference the city name as well so that readers will know which surburban area the reviewer is referring to.Respectfully yours.
  8. Try backing up the current config file and then deleting fsx.cfg, so that FSX can create a new one. If this fixes the problem then maybe something in your current config file is causing the crashes.
  9. Some more to add to the mix, all of which I have and which I enjoy flying (which is bush flying mostly).1) Aerosoft's Twin Otter X2) Aerosoft's Beaver X3) Lionheart's Kodiak4) Real Air's Catabria/Decathlon package (or anything RealAir basically, including the Siai Marchetti)5) Eaglesoft's Twin ComancheI'd avoid the Dornier DO-27 from Aerosoft, which is an old FS9 port and very, very hard on the frame rates! I have everything Carenado, but if I were to choose just one from them, it would be the Mooney. Not their latest and greatest but fun to fly nevertheless. Lionheart's Epic Victory VLJ is another light jet alternative if the price of the Mustang puts you off.
  10. I used to get this message backing up using my Acronis Home Edition. It never affected any of my backup files and I was able to restore them. I now use Microsoft's Backup and Restore program in Windows 7, and none of these messages appear using that software. I wouldn't worry about it.
  11. You can't go wrong with the Skylane II RG by Carenado. In addition to the excellent suggestions above, I would also recommend Flight1's Pilatus PC-12.
  12. FSX ATC is, at best, just a guide, so cancel the flight plan nearing approach and use the chart as the basis for your approach and landing. You'll get the same (poor) result using ATC at an airport such as Lugano, for instance. The actual approach is actually pretty steep, if one follows the localizer. Switch off autopilot close to the minimum and hand fly the rest of the landing into Innsbruck.
  13. Too many to mention, but if I had to choose four it would be Aerosoft's Beaver X, the default Caravan (but now replaced by the excellent Carenado version), Real Air's Siai Marchetti, and last but not least, Carenado's Cessna 172.
  14. This is not so much a book but a website run by a former Malaysia Airlines 777 Captain who answers hundreds if not thousands of questions from enthusiasts from around the world about flying and aviation. http://www.askcaptainlim.com/ :(
  15. I was browsing the CP website last night and found an interesting link.http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_MY/wha...ewbusinessclassScroll to the bottom and click on "Take A Virtual Tour ..." You will need Flash but if you're set up to run it there are some online flight simulator movies of CP pilots landing at Kai Tak, Heathrow, etc. Enjoy! :(
