  1. Thought I would post something helpful for me and maybe helpful to others. Here is a website I use to find the active runway for landings and takeoffs. http://www.icao.dk/ Although Active Sky Next gives me the metar info it does not tell me the active runway in use. At times when I thought I would have the correct runway programmed in the fmc base on wind calculations, atc would give me a different runway. So I´ve been using this site which has never failed me yet. Try it. You too may find it useful as well.
  2. I´m having the exact same problem even after clearing my cookie caches in both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. It´s been like that since Avsim updated the servers. George Clark
  3. As I said earlier, I deleted my FSX configuration and let FSX generate a new one. I´ve been flying all day and not one single crash. I guess I´m a lucky one today and hopefully the coming days ahead.
  4. I´m glad this topic was brought up because I´ve noticed too that it was after windows update I´ve been having crashes myself. Didn´t matter which plane I was flying I would get the windows beeping warning sound and then FSX stop s responding and freezes. Once I minimized the screen FSX disappeared. According to FSUIPC it says I was out of memory. Well early this morning I decided to delete my FSX configuration and let it generate a new one. The only tweaks I added was ForceFullScreenVSync=1, ForceWindowedVSync=1, HIGHMEMFIX=1 in the Graphics section and no more crashes. I´ve tested two flight that I know would crash FSX but, this time it ws smooth flying from take-off till landing. I would also like to take this time to congradulate PMDG on the 777. Job well done. Thankyou.
  5. I just had a crash 20min ago on flight with the new 777 departing Frankfurt to destination Manchester. Just as I took off from rwy 07L turning left over downtown Frankurt is when the crash occured. I heard the beeping sound from windows and as I minimized FSX window it completely disappeared. I ran CC Cleaner, Malwarebytes, and just finished running O&O defrag. I hope someone can find a real solution to this problem soon for everyones sake.
  6. May I offer a suggestion here because no one seems to target ai as a possible problem, especially in Ultimate Traffic2. By default it is set to spawn 350 aircraft. Imagine 350 aircraft loaded into the sim from the time it starts, that could be too much if you have many AFACD´s installed. AFACD´s increases traffic at airports and adds more structures and buildings. Have you noticed some airports are already crowded when you land. Take Frankurt, Dallas, JFK, Los Angeles, and many other major airports for instance with a modified AFACD and watch the fps drop. This too adds to the VAS and a OOM is possible. Here is a possible help for UT2 users.... Now open Ultimate traffic 2 and change these settings under traffic options: Set Commercial Traffic to 40 or 50% ( you can play with this setting but 100% will cost you a lot of fps ) Set General Aviation Traffic to 20% ( trust me you skies will still be full of GA traffic ) Take the tick out of Enable Moving jetways on Ultimate traffic 2 aircraft ( this will give you a small boost in fps at bigger airports ) Utilities section - In game settings: Lower the maximum aircraft to spawn to about 200 to 250 acft ( unless you tend to watch a lot of ai flying around ) Just trying to help. 7. Thanks for your opinion. I´ve been looking at several videos on EZdoc so far. The price is within my budget but find it a bit complicated to setup. I´m trying my best to understand how to set it up by watching the videos. I´ve also read that there are profiles already available to use with different payware aircraft and there may be one available for the 777. TrackIR is a bit too expensive for me right now. I noticed too that there is Accu-Feel and it is also within my price range. I´ll just wait for a few more opinions before I make my decision.
  8. I am a bit confused on which addon camera to purchase for better cockpit views. Just viewing the cockpit in vc mode, I´m unable to read everthing in the new 777 cockpit. I´ve seen videos where the authors are moving around quite well. The checlist can be read quite clearly and that prompts me to purchase a camera. So I´m wondering which camera most simmers are using. Thanks in advance. George Clark
  9. I am not the type of person to argue but these are your own words.... "Sounds to me that your just trying to bash PMDG products and maybe a little jealous that you can't run the NGX on X-plane yet...." I was just making a small statement that I didn´t think he was bashing at all as I to have performance issues. Don´t take it the wrong way, I´m not angry. I´m a very friendly guy that enjoys the hobby as others. I admire the products produced by PMDG but, fact is not everyone has the same great or good performance with the NGX. I still fly it from time to time. The performance issue with me is not so bad that I would stop using it. I find it both fun and challenging at the same time. Bottom line for me is that I have to enjoy what I have. Upgrading is out of the questions for the next few years. I´m just satisfied that I´m able to fly.
  10. Personally, I don´t think the OP is bashing PMDG or their products. The NGX is the best designed aircraft created today for flight simulation. I have to agree that everyones system is different so that means everyones performance is also different. I find that the 747-400X performs better on my system than the NGX and Level-D even better. What I have noticed about the NGX performance compared to the other aircraft that I mentioned on my system is the framerate in forward view. I believe it has to do with the displays. Sideviews I have no problem just forward view. Framerate issues is clearly noticed on take-off roll and landing. This is where stutters comes in. On the 747 I get less stutters and on Level-D none at all. I´m not a computer expert but, maybe my GPU, being that it´s an ATI card could be part of the reason. My FSX is most clean with excetion of a few addons. UTX USA and Europe, Ground Environment X USA and Eroupe, Ulitimate Traffic 2, Rex plus overdrive, and just recently purchased AS2012 2days ago. However, I did noticed lightly better performance with NGX using AS2012 than Rex. Like everyone else, I too am awaiting the T7 hoping it performs just as well as Level-d on my system. My system... Acer Aspire M7810 Core I7-860, Intel Core i7-860 Prozessor 4x 2,86 GHz mit Intel Turbo Boost bis zu 3,46 GHz, ATI Radeon HD 5970 Grafik mit 2GB DDR5 Speicher, 8 GB DDR3 Arbeitsspeicher, 2 TB Festplatte, Multiformat DL DVD Brenner, Gigabit LAN, Multi-in-1 Kartenleser, High Definition (7.1) Audio, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit George Clark
  11. Please allow me to add my 2cents. I don´t have a Geforce card but instead a ATI Raedon 5970. I do have a ACER Aspire Intel-core I7 860. 4 cores 8 threads HT. 8ghz 1600 hyperion ram. I´ve used many tweaks posted here on this forum as well as other resources in search of better performance. My issue was stutters. Just like many others here have found out, some worked others didn´t. I decided to check up on overclocking, not my cpu but, my gpu. I google under the search term "best clock speed for ati 5970". Several pages gave the same results gpu clock speed set to: 800 Memory set to: 1100 and very stable without increasing the voltage. Default is 725mhz core and 1000mhz memory. Did several test with these setting and had very little increase in temp. Ran FSX along with RexE+ and using NGX 737-800 all was much smoother. My point is that I would rather replace a graphics card than a mainboard and cpu if I had to overclock anything. Needless to say I´m now a much happier simmer.
  12. You may want to have a look at FSBuild. It´s one of the most popular flight planners for FSX.
  13. I use Flightaware to find routes. http://de.flightaware.com/
  14. I´ve just found that info out today through a google search I did. It works rather well and the water looks great.
