  1. Ryan, for real.... " I've seen people referring to the real airplane as an "NGX" even since we announced and released... " ??? PMDG is really great at what they do but, to revolutionize the RW Industryto the extent of appending an 'X' to the real deal C'mon now !!! GodfreyG
  2. What a Top notch, informative video !!! Berni, my hat is off to you , English is not even your first language, but yet you do an immaculate job with your commentaries. You may have omiteed the 7700 transponder code but, in Real Life, with two trained professionals on the flight deck, really important stuff has been overlooked and neglected before, (Take a look at some episodes of "Air Emergencies" and "Seconds from Disaster", you nitpickers out there !!) so, once again I Thank you for these wonderful Video gifts you give to the flightsim community, and I take my hat off to you .BTW, Mr. Bradbury, I mean no offence as I know you mean well and you are also a great source of learning for us all over the years, why... I would not have even known that in such an emergency, 7700 is the way to go, thank you for that info.Berni, keep up the Wonderful job and, I look forward to more of your friendly but yet professional approach in these videos. I would love to fly in a 737 anywhere with you, I Know I'll Be Safe GodfreyG
  3. Has anyone experienced anything like this ? Repeated replays of eg: a landing ? or slewing to practice approach and landing ? I don't see why doing a few of those would crash FSX as I've never seen it happen with other crafts before.PMDG personel, maybe you can give me a clue as to what may be causing this? I have not seen anything in the manual directing us not to slew, and I find it an easy way to set up and practice manual approaches and landing; am I missing some info here ? Thanks guys, GodfreyG
  4. Hey fellow Capts/FOs, I would appreciate some input on this if you have had this experience. What I'm speaking of is an FSX crash after (a) running repeated replays of a Great landing( using FSRecorder of course,) or (:( reflying an approach and landing using the "slew" mode in FSX to reset after each landing.I have run a few replays of my 'brilliant/not so brilliant' landings and, after so doing for three or four times, FSX crashed. Now, last night I made a great landing using ILS Rwy19 at EHAM and decided that I would repeat said landing manually (No AP ) so what I did was to 'slew' a few miles away from the Rwy thresh hold at an altitude of 1500ft and speed set at aprox. 145kias for the landing weight of the aircraft.(I had paused the sim before going into slew mode) Upon resuming the aircraft was a wee bit erratic, but quickly settled down and I was able to continue with my manual approach and landing. I repeated this twice with no problems and, on the third try, FSX crashed, similar to when I watched the replays a number of times.Has any of you guys ever experienced this and, if so, what is causing this, if you know ? GodfreyG
  5. Ryan, Thank you for that detailed explanation!! I have just completed reproducing the flight I had this issue with in FSX, with the 737-800wl model in FS9, and received the very same alert. For crying out loud, I was sure something 'cooky' was amiss. Now I understand why as per Ryan's detailed explanation. You guys at PMDG really do take this seriously, don't you ??? Even minute details like these are covered in your products. Why, I believe that if I master this 'bird' I would be able to complete ground school and level-d type training with ease Yeah right, wishful thinking !!! Nevertheless, it is comforting to know that there is an abundance of "real" details in this aircraft. Thanks again Ryan !!! GodfreyG
  6. I have had the same issue and have dilligently searched for answers in the manuals, but to no avail. As JasonG said above, in the final analysis, it does not cause a problem as the aircraft still decends and meets the limits stipilated. But, I would like to know once and for all, what causes this 'alert' to show up ? Is it some error I am making in the plan with regards to fuel, weight ....., or is this a quirk unique to the 737NGX ? I never experienced this with the PMDG 737NG in FS9.... As a matter of fact, I am going to replicate the exact same flight I last did in FSX when I received that alert, in FS9 right now ! I don't know why I didn't think of doing that before.....It maybe something to do with the navdat info we receive from Navigraph, possibly some changes in the way they process said info to make it available to us. GodfreyG
  7. CIRCLETOLAND, that was a very informative and professionally done video. I learned a whole lot just from watching it once and, as I go over it again, I am positive I will continue to learn even more. Your calm professionalism and great english made this a joy to watch !!! I can't wait for your next contribution in english. Thank you very much for sharing this with the flightsim community. GodfreyG
  8. You are probably correct Houghton11, I just can't see it happening the way it did on my flight, because all the alarms went silent at cruise level, and remained so even until landing. I will try doing that flight exactly the same way again ( it's just a sim with virtual pax. and crew ) and visually inspect the aircraft to see what happens. Thanks guys for all your input. GodfreyG
  9. "Anyway I think it would be cool to have hypoxia simulated, something like starting to get blurry vision at a certain altitude and slowly end in a black out, maybe we could reach out for the oxigen masks and get our vision back to start an emergency descent to 10000ft. Probably a bit "gamish" I don't know " Dazz, that is a good idea !!! Just like simulating the 'g-effects' in sim, maybe they can implement some blurring of the vision as is the case with hypoxia, and then as the pilot, you would be alloted a limited amount of time to put on your oxygen mask, before 'blacking out' and then, Game Over !!! But, also like you mentioned, that would probably be considered to be too "gamish" !GodfreyG
  10. You are right dazz, it was and that I can understand, the sudden change in pressure and all.....! But, with the door already opened and therefore the pressure inside and out being equal, would an airliner such as the 737, 747, MD-11, A320 etc., be able to make it all the way to 31,000ft without problems ? That for me is the Big question. I would love to hear from some of our more experienced and knowledgeable colleagues in 'flight' Of course the crew would either have to be locked in a pressurized cockpit or else wearing oxygen masks to be able to continue flying. GodfreyG
  11. If we were to exclude passengers, and not pressurise the pax. cabin, would it realistically be possible to take a 737-800 up to FL310 with a door open ? Wouldn't the fact that a door is open preventan aircraft such as this is from reaching that high ? I know I made a mistake and 'virtually killed' a few 'virtual passengers' but please forgive me, I promise to go through all of my 'checklists' henceforth ! Could someone knowledgeable please answer my question;-"Is it possible to take a 737-800 up to FL310 with a door opened ? " GodfreyG
  12. ' , That's a good 'un twinturbo99, I switched it off a few times but you took out the 'virtual bulb' OK, let us forget the laughs for a moment and consider this seriously! (No NGX, it wasn't a Hot day!!!) If we were to exclude passengers, and not pressurise the pax. cabin, would it realistically be possible to take a 737-800 up to FL310 with a door open ? Wouldn't the fact that a door is open prevent an aircraft such as this is from reaching that high ? Oh, and Bundy Bear, thanks for reminding me, when they (the cabin crew) recover from the coma they are in, I'll be sure to ask them GodfreyG
  13. You're right NGX, the yellow caution light did illuminate a couple of times, now that I recall but, finding no issues reported, I just switched it off, Silly, I know !! But the question still remains that, as realistic as PMDG made this 737, there are still remaing weird quirks, probably not much but weird nevertheless. What I mean is this, in TRW, would it be possible to take a 737-800 to an altitude of FL310 with a door open ? I know that depressurization would render unconscious and probably kill all of my passengers(PHEW!!! ), but, please prove me wrong and say that 'yes, it is strucurally possinle. Please prove that I , and not PMDG's product, is guilty of having 'weird quirks GodfreyG
  14. Guys, I addressed you all as "fellow pilots", but now, I feel like an overgrown 'A--' ,certainly not a pilot ! This is exactly what I did twinturbo99, I left the pax door opened ! I saved this flight at the initial stage so as to be able to do it again and, upon checking, I found that I did open the left front pax door !!! How idotic could I have been. Anyways, thanks for all your answers and helpful suggestions. This gives rise to another question though, how would it be possible to takeoff and climb to the initial alt. of 6,000ft without any door alarms sounding ??? Yes, I did not follow a full blown before and after takeoff checklist, Guilty !!!, but there should be some config alarms sounding as soon as I start my takeoff roll, shouldn't there ?? As a matter of fact, I was at cruise alt. of FL310 for a few minutes before the alarms ceased !! That's not possible, is it ?? Thanks again for your input pilots, I left out the "fellow" part this time GodfreyG
  15. Hey fellow pilots, I've been enjoying this beautiful 'bird' of PMDGs ever since its release and, so far had no issues of great significance until last night. I set up a flight from EKCH to ENGM as per Trisager's 'SIDs, STARs, and Approach Transitions - Worked Example' of August 17th. Every aspect went well, and I lined up and took off from Rwy 4L as per ATC's instructions. I climbed to 6,000ft initially, and, when instructed, started my climb to cruise alt. On the way there, (to cruise alt) an alarm started to sound and continued even when I was at cruise alt. (FL310) I searched high and low but could not detect any errors. Then suddenly, whilst at cruise, it stopped and never sounded again. My cruise and landing alts. were both set correctly on the OVHD panel, trim was correct, fuel load of 1/3 was balanced in both tanks and all that stuff. Anyone else ever experienced such or has any pointers as to what may have caused same ?? Thanks in advance !!! GodfreyG
