  1. You put a mandatory doormat ad right in the middle of search results, which not only blocks my view of the middle of the page but also won't let me click anything in the search page. The only thing I can do is click the ad. Firefox.
  2. Yes sir I did. I guess what I'm confirming is that not all the checklists are actually in the panel. Some seem to just be written down... which kind of confused me. It kept talking about power up and it always starts with 24 hour check. I kept clicking, looking for the power up checklist. Thanks for getting back to me.
  3. lol. ikr. I went through all the docs that come with it and was pulling my hair out trying to find what looks like a properly formatted checklist.
  4. I DID, however, send him a $10 donation. I just get irritated when devs don't communicate standard stuff like compatibility. I don't understand why he didn't charge devs some kind of licensing fee. He's kind of at the center of all animation in FSX.
  5. Same problem here. Installed Aerosoft Nuuk and UGCX refuses to see the updated map. I checked scenery.cfg - it's in there. I blew away indeces and rebuilt them. I copied indices from FSX to FSX-SE directory in programdata. I ran makerunways. I'm out of tricks. Version 2.6. --------------- Scenery Area: [Area.145] --------------- Title: [FSDG-Greenland Nuuk] Local: [FSDG\FSDG-Greenland Nuuk] Layer: [142] Active?: [TRUE] Unloading the scenery index from memory... Updating the INITIALIZATION file... Creating aircraft's profile FONT... Module's initialization sequence COMPLETED!
  6. Where is this actually documented? I do not see this procedure in any of the docs that come with the Majestic.
  7. OK, now for the stupidest FS2Crew question ever. When I start up FS2Crew, it always starts with the 24 hour checks. I see nothing about power up checklist. Is it not actually part of the program? Are there some checklists that are just on paper and not actually in FS2Crew?
  8. Whoever you are, thank you. GSX installs 1.8 and everything in SODE manager looks just fine. Registed, SIMconnect fine. One little entry in the log about platform not being supported. NOTHING at the SODE forums on this. No readme, no release notes, no "Hey, btw, I quit supporting FSX:SE, scew you and good bye." Just you, whoever you are, coming through with critical information the dev didn't seem to think was important. I guess that's what you get when everything in the ecosystem leans on one piece of freeware. Went back to 1.68 and all jim-dandy. You deserve a prize, sir/ma'am. This is literally the only place I have seen this.
  9. I've been using Pro-ATC since forever. And RC4 before that. Since PATC is no longer supported, I've been bummed out by some of the bugs that will never be fixed. I periodically look for new ATC programs, but never did find this one until I saw it mentioned in some obscure post. Why have I never heard of P2A before? First run was from LPLA to TNCM. I was quite impressed. Everything worked like it was supposed to. ATC instructions made sense. It even said "no" when I asked for a bogus altitude and recognizes my position on the ground. (That part is HUGE -- I'm not sure how far you go with this, but getting a "cross runway" instruction made my day.) I shot a missed approach at TNCM and it vectored me around just find. I'm not used to talking, so I used the SayIt mostly, but was very impressed by the voice recognition. Not sure if that's you or M$ or whoever, but it was pretty easy to talk to P2A. I especially like the practice feature. AND I see you're still working on it after eight years. That's also a huge plus. And it's MSFS compatible if and when I go there. I also like how it's a complete navigation package. I almost don't need my Aivlasoft. The HI overlay is very nice. As is the waypoint listing and tracking. And all the route info along the top. Just really well thought-out UI. First impression is very good.
  10. Searched on "install" and actually found some good posts, but nothing comprehensive. From what I've read both here and on Steam, MSFS can be a real nightmare to install and set up. I'm an experienced FS9/FSX guy with a large hangar and airports. No stranger to panel.cfg, aircraft.cfg, fsx.cfg, etc. Have even written some C# against the SDK and done some scenery work. (Neither of which have anything to do with surviving the MSFS installer, I'm sure.) But I am really wary of another tech fest just to install MSFS. Are there any comprehensive guides that point out the most common landmines? It doesn't seem that download and follow the prompts is going to work here.
  11. What aircraft are you trying this with? Have you tried it with others? I'm wondering if there is a limitation with your particular aircraft (or all of them) where dragging a 2D instrument out of the main cockpit window just doesn't work. As I understand it, the typical approach is to deploy a second computer with something like Project Magenta, then read the FSUIPC data from the sim, get that through an I/O board (or LAN in some cases) and over to the second PC, where the data will drive the Magenta instrument. I'm not entirely sure about my description here, but basically the instrument data is offloaded to a different instrument package. BUT -- I'm with you, man. If you could just drag the instrument that came with the payware to a different screen, that would be super simple... (a little later...) So, yeah, you can drag instruments around. Just did it with my iFly 738. Maybe it's the monitors? Can you undock and drag instruments between the two main monitors?
  12. Hi Stinger, I sorta kinda understand the input portion of the whole home cockpit thing. There are a few ways to do what you're asking - which is to encode an input of some kind (in your case, a switch or button perhaps). Basically, you need to transmit the input that is generated back to the PC in a way that it understands as "A". After looking at a few different options, I've found leobardner to be the best place for simple and fairly inexpensive hardware for getting signals from things like buttons to the PC. Take a look at the BU836X (http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=94&products_id=180. I have yet to actually work with this, but I think it will do what you're asking for. Other folks here in the forum recommend leobardner for input processing, as well, so it's a known entity. Basically: button-->BU836X-->USB-->emulation software...(which converts the button press to a keyboard letter, for example) They specifically mention Joy2Key as the software to use for keyboard emulation. They have decent documentation and really do try to make it easy. Spend some time reading the stuff on their page and it should start to make sense... Happy pecking! -MJL
  13. Like a few here, I used RC4 for many years. (And really wished RC5 had gotten off the ground.) I've never heard of PF3, but I've been using ATC-X for a few years now. It has improved quite a bit over the upgrade cycles and I find it today to be a solid ATC program that is easy to use and does what it's supposed to. It's easy to let it generate a flight plan or to create your own and it does a *fantastic* job of picking SIDs and STARs before and during your flight. That is the most valuable thing to me because that is realistic - you don't have to set up your procedures ahead of time. ATC tells you what you're going to use, which is how it should be. The one feature I really like is that it provides ground traffic instructions, just like FSX ATC. (I don't know of any other ATC that does.) If you get off course, it vectors you where you need to go. It also exports flightplans after you get clearance to the correct folders for your chosen aircraft. I've gone into the FMC and had no problem opening those flightplans for PMDG, iFly and FSCaptain. They've put a lot of thought into integrating into add-ons. The list, however, is short in terms of add-ons supported for FL import in the FMC. But that's really a minor detail. I also like the moving map, which is really helpful for finding and parking at the right gate. Overall, I've been very happy with Pro ATC-X and they have put serious time into improving it over the years.
  14. Considering that many of us are actually flying the J41 in SE and with the caveat that giving us liveries does not constitute official support, how's about you put 'em back up on the website? All that jazz still goes under sim objects folder just fine. I'm certain many of us would greatly appreciate this accommodation. If I'm missing some technical difference between SP2 and SE that precludes the liveries from working in SE, then I will gladly stand corrected. MIchael J Lawrence
