  1. Got it, thanks Steve. Im using the num pad buttons now; makes more sense for foward, left, right views, etc. than arbitrary placed buttons on the stick. Excellent software, and excellent support, its appreciated!
  2. Getting further Spy isnt showing anything at all, not even keyboard events. Until i hit escape and then End Flight (to return to the FSX initial screen). Then the keys i hit suddendly populate in Spy. Weird one, for sure.
  3. Hi Stephen, Thanks for the reply. I am using the latest OpusFSI (bought earlier this morning). Been through the Camera Editing window, and i have definitely assigned aircraft upon importing. Maybe this is down to not having a default camera. Seems ok now. Also, its strange that OpusFSI doesnt recognise stick inputs for the PMDG 777, but seems to see them fine in the Q400. I can assign a keyboard shortcut for the cam in the 777, but the view doesnt move. Again, fine in the Q400. Thanks again, i appreciate your help
  4. Hi guys, Really at a loss here - I have created a few cameras in the Editor, and assigned aircraft types to them with the Assign Aircraft Types to the Camera button. I then exited FSX and Opus, in order to create cams for a different plane. With the idea of backing up in mind, i exported all these cams. Thing is, Opus wont recognise the aircraft type when i load FSX - it always defaults to the Majestic Q400. I have gone through it all and i cant find why this is happening. Also, after a reboot, Opus will no longer allow my to assign joystick buttons to cameras, even though nothing in FSX or FSUIPC is assigned. FSX sees my hardware fine. Can anyone please help me out with this? Thanks for your help.
  5. Im sure PMDG will throw in a free pogo stick...
  6. P3D, lads. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=102&idcategory=25 Might need to save up a few quid first, though!
  7. I had to reverse the axis for some reason.
  8. 1. Yes, but change the drive letter to the original letter in Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk management. Right click the drive -> Change Letter and Path (something like that, im going from memory here!). You wil need to change the old drive's letter first though. Backup first, and go careful. Plan your strategy and understand what you are doing and why you are doing it before you do so! If you just copy your original FSX installation to a new drive with a different letter and expect everything to run happily, you could be in for a world of pain. I would do this: a. Copy the contents of D: (current) to E: (SSD) b. Change the drive letter of D: to any available letter so the letter 'D' is available for your new drive. c. Change E: to D: 2. See #1 - unless the new drive signature trips a need for reactivation. You may want to deactivate your 777 in the FMC first and then reactivate - up to you. 3. Might as well, it wont hurt. 4. No FPS / VAS benefits if thats what you mean. Faster loading times would be the main reason to get an SSD. Might reduce stutters as FSX loads scenery as you fly along, but dont expect miracles other than loading times. I found a normal drive could keep up with the speed that heavies fly at, though.
  9. Some great advice there guys, thanks a lot. Will definitely get the A2S training on pay day. Time to shoot some patterns around EGLC! Cheers, -B
  10. Hi guys, Really loving this plane, and im enjoying flying patterns to get the hang of it before i take it to my virtual airline. Need some pointers if poss: At what speed to i start dropping the flaps for landing? Does the FMC provide an optimal cruise altitude? If not, how do i work this out? What is the 'general' cruise speed for this bird? Thanks for taking time in helping me out! -B
  11. Very, very handy indeed! This is now part of my flight set up for the Q400. Thanks for your efforts. @christian what you need to do is open FSUIPC -> Buttons + Switches tab and press the button you want (stick / throttle). To the right, you will see Select for FS Control. Tick that and you will see the script in the drop down. I wouldnt use the V button as that is already assigned in FSX to take a screenshot.
  12. Thanks for the reply, really helpful. I that case, if i fly over an addon airport, that will load also, even at FL390? FSX does not unload these airports, right? I guess FTX England falls under the photoreal category in that case... Not sure about FTX Global, will see how that goes. I have changed my REX 4 settings to DXT. Are 1024 reolutions the 'FSX standard', or should i drop those to 512? Iv only had one or two OOMs with the 777, so this is more preventative rather than a cure - doing another long haul soon. Never heard of VAS until the mention of it in the documentation, so im streamlining things to what i need. Thanks again!
  13. Hi guys, Can someone please clairfy how airport addons affect VAS usage? Say im flying from EGLL to KORD in the PMDG 777. If i have an OMDB addon installed and checked in the Scenery options, will having OMDB activated increase VAS, even though its 6 hours away in the opposite direction? Or does FSX only load areas within a certain radius?
  14. Page 0.00.29 of the Introduction manual. This default aircraft is the one that is loaded before i press Fly Now after FSX loads. When the Free Flight screen appears with the AirCreation, i then select the PMDG aircraft, and then hit Fly Now.
  15. Hi Guys, Im looking for some help setting up various practice scenarios for landings. I would like to position the plane in the air (say, 45° to the runway at 3000ft about 10nm out, alt hold on, AT on, etc.), pause and then save the flight. That way, when i need to try the approach again, i can just reload the flight and soft-disconnect the AP and not have to set fuel, take off, position, etc. My question is, does the 777 / 737 NGX support saving midlfight? I know we need to load a default aircraft first (i have the aircreation glider spinning on the screen before i hit Fly Now anyway). Maybe pausing the sim, saving FSX and saving a panel state? Thanks, and happy Christmas! -A
