  1. Good afternoon guys, Recently I've been getting a BSOD that is tied to the ntoskrnl.exe file. I've searched for fixes on Google, however, none of the people who had this problem had it while playing FSX. I know that it is a memory related issue but I've been running FSX for almost a year now with few blue screens. The only thing I can blame for the increase of the blue screens, (since I can fly one flight but then get a blue screen on the next), is that I installed REX last week. The blue screens will almost always occur when I'm switching views too and never in just the cockpit with no camera movement. Is there any way to reduce the amount of BSODs without removing REX? Since I know people with far worse computers than mine are able to run REX without any problem. Upon research of the ntoskrnl.exe related BSODs, I installed BlueScreenViewer and here's the info on yesterday's BSOD... ----- Filename: ntoskrnl.exe Address in stack: ntoskrnl.exe+de7df From Address: fffff800`03461000 To Address: fffff800`03a48000 Size: 0x005e7000 Time Stamp: 0x50e79935 Time String: 1/4/2013 8:08:37 PM Product Name: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System File Description: NT Kernel & System File Version: 6.1.7601.18044 (win7sp1_gdr.130104-1431) Company: Microsoft Corporation Full Path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe Along with the info string given, here's the crash dump. 2. Thanks guys! I looked through the link that Lee sent and I think I'd rather go for a more permanent fix (just uninstalling SweetFX). So, even though FSX won't look nearly as good visually anymore, it's still stable, which should be a flight simmer's #1 priority over the looks I think. If I ever get a better graphics card, which I think is a big reason why SweetFX was acting up, I'll try SweetFX again. Until then, blue skies. Thanks gents! - Ryan
  3. I have tried both of those ideas, and I am pointing my finger at SweetFX because when alt+enter does happen to work and gets me into my desired screen view, some of the textures that are in the picture I sent are seen for a split second before giving me the screen. When I uninstall SweetFX, (which I'm guessing consists of deleting the SweetFX files in the directory), I'm unable to open up my simulator. Fsx's loadup screen comes up and then it hangs for about 20 seconds or so and then the screen dissapears without any notice or any evidence in the event viewer than "unknown." Could it possibly be that the new SweetFX colors / suite / what ever you want to call it is too much to handle for my graphics card? PS - Awesome avatar, I'm a Liverpool fan myself
  4. Sorry about that, here's a link for ya - http://postimg.org/image/f5cc8i6w3/
  5. Hi all, So this time, I'm not exactly getting a direct crash to desktop forcing me look throughout the event viewer for the problem. The problem looks like the picture shown below and it happens at random with airports I have scenery for and don't have scenery for. I have SweetFX installed and I am thinking that SweetFX is the culprit but since it's an obvious problem with graphics, it could really be anything. Any ideas are extremely helpful. Thanks, - Ryan
  6. Thanks for the help Jim, I'm thinking it could be my drivers for my video card. I'm currently flying Rome to Newark so I will update them as soon as I land, along with the Microsoft Visual C++. The flight right now is also a test to see if it repeats itself, since I restarted prior to departing Rome. I will let you know if the flight goes all the way to Newark, but even if it does I will do your recommended steps. Thanks! - Ryan
  7. Hi Jim, I've made it just about a month! I've been 100% crash free and problem free until this date, and I'm not sure if this CTD I just got is as severe as the terrain.dll one (which has now been successfully fixed), but here's what I got - ________________________________________ Version=1 EventType=APPCRASH EventTime=130190231883595570 ReportType=2 Consent=1 UploadTime=130190231884485621 ReportIdentifier=ba422ce0-f346-11e2-8a5f-902b34a1f8e1 IntegratorReportIdentifier=ba422cdf-f346-11e2-8a5f-902b34a1f8e1 WOW64=1 Response.type=4 Sig[0].Name=Application Name Sig[0].Value=fsx.exe Sig[1].Name=Application Version Sig[1].Value=10.0.61472.0 Sig[2].Name=Application Timestamp Sig[2].Value=475e17d3 Sig[3].Name=Fault Module Name Sig[3].Value=ntdll.dll Sig[4].Name=Fault Module Version Sig[4].Value=6.1.7601.17725 Sig[5].Name=Fault Module Timestamp Sig[5].Value=4ec49b8f Sig[6].Name=Exception Code Sig[6].Value=c0000420 Sig[7].Name=Exception Offset Sig[7].Value=000ce6c3 DynamicSig[1].Name=OS Version DynamicSig[1].Value=6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 DynamicSig[2].Name=Locale ID DynamicSig[2].Value=1033 DynamicSig[22].Name=Additional Information 1 DynamicSig[22].Value=8617 DynamicSig[23].Name=Additional Information 2 DynamicSig[23].Value=8617df16195005dca84f9e288b7c0195 DynamicSig[24].Name=Additional Information 3 DynamicSig[24].Value=b4a7 DynamicSig[25].Name=Additional Information 4 DynamicSig[25].Value=b4a770dd89afefa661c026da9ff5b482 UI[2]=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe UI[3]=Microsoft Flight Simulator® has stopped working UI[4]=Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. 8. Good to know! Currently on my way to Houston. If a crash ever happens again, I will send the information thread to you from what Appcrash tells me. - Ryan
  9. Jim, I haven't flown my test flight yet but I noticed that in the list of terrain that you gave have higher numbers than mine. I have reduced the autogen down to a number of 1 and kept the rest of my terrain #s where they are because they're lower than yours. I have also added below the "WATER_EFFECTS=3" entry the two red lines you provided for the autogen. Would the changes I made to the autogen alone stop the terrain.dll error? This is what mine currently looks like - [TERRAIN] LOD_RADIUS=3.500000 MESH_COMPLEXITY=46 MESH_RESOLUTION=20 TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=25 AUTOGEN_DENSITY=1 DETAIL_TEXTURE=1 WATER_EFFECTS=3 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=1000 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=800
  10. Thanks for the information John, I will give it a try when I've got some time. It's good to know that these are compatible too!
  11. Hi Jim, This is definitely a fix that I haven't heard of yet! I will be giving it a try today and doing MCO-IAH and will let you know how it goes. Thanks! - Ryan
  12. I've been wanting to do DEN-CUN in the Airbus X Extended with a Frontier livery for a while now since I've flown that route in real life, but when I search for an Airbus X Extended with Frontier colors, I find liveries for previous versions that aren't compatible for the newest 1.10 version. Any animal on the tail would be nice! I flew to Cancun from Denver on Sheldon the Turtle (N210FR), so if someone could paint that one, that would be really cool... but then again it doesn't really matter to me. Thanks! - Ryan
  13. Hi all, I've been getting the same CTD for a while now, and I'm happy that it is just one file causing all of the CTDs and not other common ones that can usually be fixed by the UIAutomationcore.dll. The problem that persists for me is that randomly in the flight, and almost always during cruise or in the early stages of the descent, my simulator stops, then the windows 7 loader / spinner comes up and tells me a fatal error has occurred. I go into the event manager and see that it is the terrain.dll file again. I've tried everything that I have seen so far on the forums; dropping the UIAtuomationcore.dll file into the main fsx directory, installing new drivers for my graphics card, deleting the fsx.cfg, turn down my processor clock from 4.0ghz to 3.6ghz, the list goes on. I did find one trick however that showed a little light in solving the problem which was deleting the shaders and shaders10 folders from Appdata/Local/Microsoft/FSX and also deleting the Facilities folder from Program Data/Microsoft/FSX. Flight simulator has to re-create the folders then on the next startup, but it's left me to delete those folders prior to every flight if I want the simulator to be stable during flight. I have also re-installed fsx and done the repair install as well. I know that a CTD due to the terrain.dll file isn't a whole lot common, but possibly someone's got a few ideas? I'll list the event viewer information as well. 14. So in the end, the question has to be asked, what did you all get from putting this in here? Less than 5 hours after this was posted, we've figured this whole thing out. So really, what was the point? It wasn't swavirtual.com who did this and we never intend to be a VA who does this - this event was lead by a group of individuals. Also, something that wasn't mentioned in both of my fellow pilots' posts.... that banner up there in both pictures belongs to our VA and didn't we just confirm the people who did this?Take a look for yourself at what my fellow pilots are talking about -http://www.britishva.tk/Ryan Ficklinswavirtual.comSWA1752
  15. I understand,I mean the in depth comparison of the two aircraft though...When I said upgraded, I mean PMDG's new aircraft that was built from point 0 but could be compared to the NG model.
