  1. Thanks for the replies all, yall have answered my question here and I'll hold off on the CR2. As for the CR7, I am in love with the Aerosoft CRJ-700 and it's ALL I have been flying in my past 30 hours on FSX, I cant get enough of it!
  2. So I've been putting a lot of hours into FSX:SE and also got into VATSIM with the Aerosoft CRJ-700 and I must say it's one of my favorite addons for any flight sim, along with the MJC Q400, FF757v2 (XP11), and PMDG aircraft of course. But I want a CRJ-200 in my collection! So how does the Jrollon CRJ-200 compare with the Aerosoft CRJ's? Does it have as good systems modeling as the Aerosoft? Is it worth 50 bucks? Would I enjoy it on VATSIM? I found mixed reviews on it, so hopefully someone can fill me in on how it compares in quality?
  3. Would like to say thanks for all the good advice and great stories! Anyways I would like to update ya'll and say that I'm getting better in this. Just took off from JFK and gained some confidence and learned more of what to expect from the controllers. Still wasnt a perfect flight but myunderstanding of "radio talk", procedures, and confidence is steadily increasing, and I am not as afraid to mutter out that "say again". Also props to the controller I had tonight for being patient with me, appreciated it! (EDV5355 out of JFK for BUF, in case that controller reads this!)
  4. And that is a hard choice, but either option you wont regret!
  5. For regional aircraft I would recommend the Majestic Software Dash 8-Q400 and the Aerosoft CRJ-700/900. As for the Dash 8, its unarguably one of the best addons ever created for FSX. Thats all I can say, it's just an incredible addon. As for the Aerosoft CRJ, it's a load of fun to fly and I have been hooked to it. It's a great addon (not quite as in depth as the Dash 8 but it is still very realistic for SOP) and I've been stuck to it like glue since I bought it. Get the CRJ, you wont regret it!!! P.s. I'm partial to the CRJ-700/900 since I see them almost every day at KELM.🤣
  6. You're probably reading my title and wondering what in the world I'm talking about, so bear with me and let me explain. After years of flying FSX, DCS, and X-Plane I did my first two VATSIM flights ever today in the CRJ-700 and it was AWESOME (and terrifying!) Now, let me explain. Just a little background, I grew up in Texas and live in rural upstate New York so talking slow with a little drawl is something I'm very used to. And I realized today that I have a hard time understanding ATC and other aircraft just because of how fast they speak! It's like a whole new language to me, I know that in aviation they speak quickly and it's necessary but any advice for how us slow speaking country folk can learn how to better understand ATC?! I hate saying "say again" because I just know that the controller is rolling his eyes at my slow speaking, slow hearing self! Let me hear some of your experiences and maybe how some of ya'll got to better understand the controllers and the fast talk, before I embarrass myself more with the "say agains!"
  7. I like flying to the New York/Newark area but the frames are just so awful for me, I get around 10-15 in the NGX. I'm using FSX:SE and a lot of my fsx.cfg is already tweaked. At New York the only addons that effect the area are MyTraffic X, FTX Global, and ActiveSky Next. The rest of my addons are either aircraft or other airports (Buffalo, Paro, Dubai, St. Maarten, etc.) Also, I kind of like my settings how they are right now. Would getting an addon like New York City X increase my frames? What other solutions are there? Here are my computer specs: Motherboard: ASUS Z-170 AURA CPU: Intel Core-i7 6700K (overclocked @ 4.639GHz) GPU: Gigabyte GeForce NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 RAM: x4 Corsair 8GB DDR4 (32GB DDR4 RAM) Cooling: Kraken x41 Water Cooling System Storage: 1TB Hard Disk Drive Now here are my scenery and traffic settings: Terrain and water Level of detail radius: Large Mesh Complexity: 75 Mesh Resolution: 38 m Texture Resolution: 1 m Water Effects: Max 2.x Land Detail Textures: ☑ (Checked) Scenery Objects Scenery Complexity: Very Dense Autogen Density: Very Dense Ground Scenery Shadows: 𝥷 (Unchecked) Special Effects Detail: High Aviation Traffic Airline Traffic Density: 22% General Aviation Traffic Density: 28% Airport Vehicle Density: Low Land and Sea Traffic Road Vehicles: 80% Ships and Ferries: 100% Leisure Boats: 61%
  8. Perfect for Airhauler 2 where I'm constantly doing cargo flights to many different default airports.
  9. Nevermind. I got it figured out. Have to use the pitch wheel on the center console.
  10. I watched the 441 videos and they are fantastic. I was unable to locate the takeoff/climb or the landing videos on the website or the youtube channel. Are they available? Or maybe just an autopilot tutorial even if only text. I'm having a little difficulty understanding how to use altitude capture properly. Often it just keeps climbing past what I have set the alerter to. Or I set a lower altitude and nothing happens. I know that it's pilot error. Can anyone explain the proper way to manage altitude changes with the AP? Thanks, Craig
  11. My son just landed an empty 777F at 7N1 and used less than half of the 3269 ft runway. Is this realistic? If you want to try it you'll have to get the freeware 7N1 by Jim Cook from the library. Here's a picture of it, he touched down right at the beginning of the threshold. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=9vglsy&s=9#.V8eb7a0S2M8
  12. My JS4100 isn't working correctly with my FSX installation. Whenever I load the JS4100 up (after being in a cold and dark C172) the battery switches are on but all the screens are black and if I connect a GPU to the aircraft and turn on the GPU it still gives me no power. The throttles also don't move in the VC even if I move the throttles back and forth, and it is not a controller issue since the tool tip will display the throttle percentage moving up and down. Does anyone know why, or what is going on here?
