  1. I found a trick to partially hide this missing cockpit texture by darkening the cockpit windows. You need of course to use different (darker) Glass_T.dds and Glass_S.dds file. I found mine in the old Posky CRJ-700: OSCRJ7_COCKPITWINDOW.bmp (from poskyarchive.com). But you need also to modify the Iris model file (CRJ200_FSX.MDL) with the utility MDLMatXX.exe by Martin Wright (from mwgfx.co.uk/beta.htm) like this: Not perfect, but acceptable. You can make the windows way darker of course, or even opaque if you want. Of course since the IRIS 3D model file is copyrighted, we cannot upload it anywhere without asking IRIS permission (G'day M. David Brice, are you reading this?). This is why I've posted here the receipe. This tweak takes only a few minutes. Anybody tried to repaint the IRIS CRJ-900? Same bug?
  2. I choose UTair because it's simple, nice and clean. Almost ready... I hope other repainters are busy playing with the Iris CRJ-200!
  3. At last, an Iris CRJ-200 paint kit and a Delta Connection livery surfaced a few days ago at avsim's library, thanks to A.J. Cook. Search for iris_crj200_delta.zip and iris_crj200_paintkit.zip. Nice job! Thanks again A.J. (and thanks to Iris Simulations too by the way...). Keep them coming!
  4. I have the same problem with Ray Smith's EHAM (freeware @ avsim) and I fixed it by disabling OpenVFR Terrain for the Netherlands. Some OpenVFR sceneries are free and are quite nice. Works fine in Germany and Austria, but in the Netherlands I have trees in Schiphol, just like you. OpenVFR: http://openvfr.freyt.de/magento/index.php/downloads/openvfr-terrain/openvfr-terrain-europe-793.html Maybe you don't have OpenVFR, but you have a similar landclass/vector scenery, like UTX...
  5. Merci ! Dank u ! Thanks ! Aircrafts: SimSkunkWorks Republic F84F & SkySim Mirage V.
  6. Wow very impressive, that's really good news to see these Iris freeware eggs repainted at last! Thanks Quincio & Stormtrooper.
  7. While waiting for FTX OpenLC and a debugged FTX Global Vector, here is some free solutions to improve FTX Global in Europe: I'm very impressed with "openVFR terrain". It's landclass, roads, coastline, etc... based on OpenStreetMap, just like FTX Global Vector + openLC is supposed to be. And there is a free demo for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Netherland. http://openvfr.freyt.de/magento/index.php/downloads/openvfr-terrain/openvfr-terrain-europe-793.html Austria near Klagenfurt (LOWK) with FTX Global only: Same with FTX Global + openVFR terrain: Netherlands near Valkenburg (EHVB) with FTX Global only: (also with NL2000 airports and SimSkunkWorks F84F) Same with FTX Global + openVFR terrain: More excellent landclass/vector based freeware that mix well with FTXG: J. Kelloggs' Denmark map (denmarkmapx-2_1.zip): http://www.jkelloggs.dk/scenery/denmarkmapx J. Kelloggs' Estonia map (estoniamapx-1_0.zip): http://www.jkelloggs.dk/node/600 Anthony Dyer' Scotland landclass (scotland lc.zip @ avsim) Aurnaud Clère's France landclass (lc_france.zip): http://www.gratisim.fr/arnaud-cl-les-sites-4?task=view For FS9 but "lc_france_std.bgl" works fine in FSX. Includes bits of Germany and southern Belgium) Don't forget to add a mesh! Here's a few suggestions: Raimondo Taburet 38m France Mesh LOD 10 (fra38xv3.zip @ Flightsim/SimViation) Raimondo Taburet 38m Alps Mesh LOD 10 (alps38xn.zip @ Flightsim/SimViation) or more precise Alain Ragot's 19m Alps Mesh LOD 11: v2 is here http://www.vf-air.com/MeshAlpes.zip v3 is lost, was called ALPES_LOD11_V3.zip Of course this is just a selection... More free mesh, vector and landclass to hunt for here and elsewhere: http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html I'm still looking for a landclass for the British Isles... freeware... any idea? Some more readings about landclasses: http://simmerhead.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/review-fsx-landclass-battle/
  8. Another FS9 classic saved by Steve's DX10 fixer and some easy alpha layer tweaking, the Junkers Ju-50 by Oliver Fischer (junkers_52_v2.zip @ avsim)... Seems to work well in P3D2 too... with nice VC shadows (this image courtesy of Daube, joyeux Noel!) :
  9. Thanks John Looks like you are now officialy an Iris Bombardier Repainter according to Avsim. That's very good news! Keep up the good work! Yes the CRJ is really not a piece of cake... so sad Iris gave up so soon...
  10. Well I doubt very much Coolsky and McPhat will approve, even if I ask them nicely... But I gave you the receipe already! I wonder if the FPS with the Freighter version are better, same or worse than with the PAX vesion? Maybe Coolsky managed to tweak a little bit the VC while working on the Freighter? Is it the same looking VC?
  11. Here is my dirty little secret: With DTXBMP and PSP I've made a black & white version of the blue cockpit, so I have a grey cockpit option for free (but not HD of course, and certainly not perfect). But it's nice to have the choice! Can't share of course... And since on my laptop the FPS are quite bad (as bad as the CS777), I reverted to the old low poly VC from an early beta version "DC9-30_VC_Low.MDL" (unfortunatly it's the version with the ugly artifacts, hopefully 80% of the time I have no artifacts). I've asked Epsen to include a low poly VC option in the last version of his DC9, but it didn't materialize... What a pity... I guess not enough customers asked for a VC with less clickspots and less gimmicks... But I have perfect FPS now, as good as with the default CRJ-700! Of course the blue/full version is much nicer, but 8 - 14 FPS is a show stopper for me...
  12. Oh yes please do! These Iris Bombardiers GEX have a lot of potential as nice and simple aircrafts with no FPS issues! But I hope the Iris CRJ line won't be forgotten by repainters... Even an all-white livery will do at this point... Sure I'd like one like this:
  13. Wow, thanks! That was fast! Any CRJ in the works? Yes I know, not as trendy as the GEX, but we, regular people, mostly fly (in the real world) in CRJs between hubs, rarely in VIP bizjets in fancy places...
  14. Stormtrooper Express repaints are very nice! I have them and uses them a lot. But John is right, these Iris freeware Bombardiers are not very popular with repainters. I tried a Delta Iris CRJ-200 repaint, but I gave up... I'm really not good with photoshop... And the lack of paintkit doesn't help either... I wrote to some famous repainters (Paul, Daniel, Nath, etc..), begging them to help me, but so far nothing surfaced... What a pity! There's no freeware native FSX CRJ-200 around, only this one! With the default CRJ-700 cockpit, it has the potential of being a nice FPS friendly & no frills aircraft.
