  1. Funny enough I came across your post on this in the LM forums. I suspect this may have been the cause. I just cleaned up some Nvidia files for an unrelated problem with another program, will report back results. I've also seen that it could be a user profile corruption issue on W10, among other things.
  2. I've got an update, The erratic flight dynamics behavior seems to have been caused by some sort of error in the installation of ASN, as Dan suggested. In terms of P3D crashing, I've isolated it to a kernelbase.dll error. Thanks for the input!
  3. I fully admit that this post was written in haste and isn't as clear as it should be. I will take the time when I can to fix it up. That being said, I myself am struggling to define the problem as there seems to be so much going wrong. The main issue I will focus on is the erratic flight dynamics bug, as it persists after a full reinstall. If I can replicate it again, I'll film it, and check the problem report prompt as suggested by Kyle.
  4. Hello all, I'd like to draw your attention to an issue that has been plaguing me the past few days. I can barely describe it other than I am at a complete loss for words. To save time, here is my reddit post about this issue: I'm running v3.3.5 right now. I reinstalled it not too long ago. Also just got a second monitor. Decided to do a a YYZ-YVR sector yesterday in the 777 to prepare for CTP. Glad I did, because P3D ended up doing a CTD. It was particularly strange as well- there was no error message, it just disappeared from the taskbar. I had stepped away from the flight with the window focus on Chrome on my other monitor. I came back to my screensaver. The crash seemed to occur after I woke up the computer from the screensaver and clicked P3D's window. I decided to do another test flight, just cruising on a straight heading for a bit. I was in the air for about 30 minutes, then I fiddled with some display settings in Windows (moving primary monitor), when another crash occurred. Very strange stuff. I thought perhaps my cfg was corrupted, so I deleted it to create a fresh one. This is where things got REALLY strange. My next test flight, I noticed that I was able to rotate far sooner than normal, and actually lift off the runway and start a climb, albeit a shallow one. I also noticed that there was no longer wingflex. I just wanted to test how long I could stay in the air, so I engaged CMD A, LNAV/VNAV to follow the SID and left the computer for a little bit. I came back to see that the aircraft was in a very slow climb, barely making 200 knots, but with full climb thrust...nearly stalling!!! Manual flight didn't solve this, in fact it made it worse. I restarted and tried again, this time hand flying the whole thing. Same occurrence....full throttle, nose about 3 degrees below the horizon, flaps/gear up, only around 3000' AGL, and barley climbing, speed stagnant at around 200 kts. What the hell is going on?!? I tried the 737 as well- same deal. Even the default aircraft aren't behaving properly. The Majestic Q400 seems to work fine, however, but my understanding is that it uses external flight dynamics. Never seen this issue before, ever. And I have no idea how it happened. I've deleted the CFG before with no issue. It just suddenly happened. Today I did a full uninstall of v3.3.5 and installed v3.2, as well as the 777. I did a quick test flight and all seemed fine for about an hour....then all hell broke loose. I noticed a strange sound issue where only the engine and distorted wind sounds were playing. I changed some sound settings in P3D, and then, the flight dynamics issue returned....the aircraft seemed to screech to a halt in mid-air, and the wings flexed downward to max negative Gs. The airspeed indicator was still working perfectly fine, showing the aircraft accelerating, when it clearly was stopped in mid-air. The engine sound distorted such that it kept spooling up, as if the engines were at 200% N1. In P3D, I put the aircraft on the ground again. Same behavior- the aircraft would not move, but the airspeed indicator showed acceleration, with the strange engine sounds. This was my only flight since a FRESH install of an OLDER version. I rebooted the sim and tried again. So far, a reboot has stopped the strange behavior for now, but I have run out of time today to try and replicate it. In short, I'm dumbfounded. I have never in all my 10 years of simming seen anything like this. As such, I'm desperate for any help and/or attempt at explanation for the utter poltergeist of a bug I'm up against. Regards,
  5. bump again, I would like to try this file out. The other soundset available is amazing, but is for a Q100/200/300.
  6. Maybe, just maybe, it will be ready for Cross the Pond. Patience with PMDG is a must, but it's well worth it.
  7. I have not actually, I'm gonna try tinkering around with it now. I'll try that as well.
  8. Hmm, thanks for the discussion everyone. Good to know that this is a flaw with the sim and not purely my setup. I'm sure eventually LM will provide a solution, we're lucky that we get the support we do with the platform.

  10. If anyone is up to the challenge, the WestJet "Tartan Tail" 737-700 would be much appreciated, as they begin service from Halifax to Glasgow at the end of the month!
  11. So this is a common problem, then? I wasn't sure if it was just my system or not, because I've seen others' setups that seem to work a lot better.
  12. Hello all, I made the jump from FSX Classic to P3D v2.5 about 2 months ago and I haven't looked back. The stability and visual gains on my system make FSX classic obsolete for me. I have had an issue, however, that I can't quite pinpoint the source of. I've seen many other posts regarding blurry terrain textures but I haven't found a solution that works for me. For flight simulation, I fly mostly airliners, but occasionally I'll fly VFR single-engine training flights. For this test, I focused on my most used aircraft, the PMDG 737 NGX. I find that at low altitudes and relatively low speeds (V2 to flaps up speed), texture loading seems to keep up well, and terrain textures remain fairly sharp at most practical distances. However, as I climb higher and start to increase speed, the texture loading seems to turn to rubbish. Textures around my aircraft are blurry and seem to reload constantly and slowly. In a turn, looking out the side windows reveal blurry ground textures, and looking at terrain not too far in front of the aircraft out the front windshield shows the same. I have pictures and a video to demonstrate. Here is everything used in the test: P3D v2.5 Academic PMDG 737 NGX Active Sky Next FTX Global REX Soft Clouds Settings are shown in the video. My PC specs can be found on my profile. A link to my .cfg: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hl4a0vr51mw6sg8/Prepar3D.cfg?dl=0 The test was a departure off of Runway 35R at Calgary, CYYC. Please disregard the hastily setup aircraft and flying, it was by no means done by the book as the purpose of this flight was to demonstrate the terrain. This shot was taken after departure, around 2000 feet AGL. The view out the side is fine, textures are sharp. Perhaps getting a little blurry in the distance, but nothing too noticeable. This shot is of the city of Airdrie, directly ahead at roughly the same altitude. For the most part, the textures are relatively sharp but beginning to blur slightly. Zooming in, the textures seem to blur. Turning right, a little bit higher, the view out the side is excellent, the ground is very sharp. This didn't last long, however. Climbing through to around 10 000 feet MSL (roughly 6500 feet AGL in the area), the aircraft sped up past 250 kts, and the textures became blurry when looking out the windows. I started recording the video at this point. You'll notice that looking out the sides, the textures become very blurry, and anything in the distance is very low-res. I have to pan outside of the cockpit and look directly below the aircraft to see sharp textures. It seems that there is a certain small radius below the aircraft that has sharp textures. Changing the LOD radius (as seen in the video) doesn't affect this. Anything in the distance from the normal field of view of the cockpit is blurry. At high altitudes, this exists, but isn't quite as noticeable. During departure and arrival, it is quite noticeable and takes away from the immersion. I didn't notice this as much in FSX classic, but I certainly do in P3D v2.5. The video is shown here. At the time of posting, it's still uploading and being published by YouTube. It should be up by 2035 zulu today. http://youtu.be/EdrlMBW6Lxk Here's a top-down view of the ground from the aircraft, zoomed in. You can see that there is a point at which the textures go from sharp to blurry. This point is not very far from the aircraft at all. Looking outside the window is past this point. I have tried some tweaks, namely Fiber Frame time Fraction, which I set to 0.01 as recommended. It helps a bit, but it still produces this issue. I have tried affinity mask, but I find that this decreases my performance and induces stutters, and doesn't seem to help with blurry textures, so I have removed it completely. I set the program affinity in the task manager, assigning all cores. I also run with HT on. Well, that was a longer post than I expected. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
  13. I don't think we'll see it for a while, understandably so. All great things take time.
  14. Excellent idea. If nothing comes up that day I'll try and take part. Name: Matthew Kraemer (i_am_canadian737) Aircraft: A2A C172 C-GQCU (VFR conditions permitting) I was wondering, perhaps we could all chip in a few donations for cancer research in Tom's honour?
