  1. Hi Lude2Envy, I don't use any of the addon's you are using (NGX, ASN or EFB), so can't help you with that. But, a group of us were quite badly affected by g2d.dll related CTDs in P3D 2.5xxx. For us atleast, it emerged that the issue was related to a couple of LUA libraries that interface with P3D. Specifically, the libraries were ipc.display and ipc.setowndisplay (basically, the crashes were happening due to the onscreen messages being displayed by these libraries). Disabling these libraries has fixed the crashes for us. We had needed those libraries for custom built LUA scripts for interfacing our physical cockpits. I had posted on the P3D forums also (with detailed logs), but didn't hear anything from the developers. The gentleman who had coded the scripts himself debugged the issues for us. I know this post might not help you with your problems, but as a user you might never really know which add on is incorrectly interfering with what module at what level in P3D and causing those crashes, except, if it is a g2d.dll related crash, it's the display of 2D panels/windows that is probably causing the crashes. If you can figure out a way to avoid them, you might be able to make some progress. Just thought, I must share my experience with you. Just in case, it helps some one else. Cheers, and happy virtual aviating.
  2. Hiya Mike, Good you have managed to take that decision. I have been stuck between the BenQ 1080ST and the Optoma GT 1080 for quite a while now and haven't been able to arrive at a firm decision, yet B) . BenQ is obviously the best there is, and Optoma is the distant second, I think . But............ I know atleast two folks who are extremely satisfied with their BenQ installations. But, do not know anyone personally, who is using the Optoma. But, these are two models are about the only one that are available for pit building use due to the Short Throw lenses.
  3. Very impressive Marcin.....I think the potential of this is 'huge'. Awesome work mate.
  4. Awesome tool. Been having some issues with VAS recently, and this is just what I was looking for.
  5. I like the way you think, and love the way you talk, It's a thouht provoking idea mate. I'm sure, folks who gave us TrackIR started with such an idea initially. Don't drop it.
  6. Hi Johan, Any further update on the 'Pro' version release? Thanks, Mickey
  7. Hi Ryan, I have used Leo's boards, and can vouch for them. They are very good products and will work as advertised. I haven't used OpenCockpit products, so can't comment. But, I have used an Arduino board and also an I/O board from Phidgets (along with a software called FS2Phidgets). The Arduino is a good, cheap and very versatile board, but it didn't work for me. This one requires some programming skills is not for 'dummies'. And anything that ain't for dummies ain't for me. The Phidget boards are fairly inexpensive and versatile solutions also. But, for them to work you would need an application interface called FS2Phidgets. -Mickey
  8. Holger, I'm thinking, what you (probably) need is a ribbon cable. A Google search for 'purchase ribbon cable' took me 0.23 seconds and gave me 1,280,000 results. Needless to say, your mileage may vary. You could look at following links for some guidance, if this is what you are looking for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribbon_cable http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/cables-wires/flat-ribbon-cables/1638574 http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/RCBL-50/50-CONDUCTOR-RIBBON-CABLE/1.html You could also try Cat 5 or Cat 6 Ethernet data cables (One cable core will contain four pairs of multi colored cables). I am using these extensively for connecting various switches in my cockpit. Do have a look at this link for further details:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6_cable or Scroll down this link to see how it looks (http://archive.techtree.com/techtree/jsp/article.jsp?article_id=54002&cat_id=560) Hope this helps? 9. I agree jnr. Could you point me in the correct direction on this one jnr. A link or two maybe. Thank you.
  10. Gents, If you follow the steps listed above, even though you will be able to build the 'database' but i have discovered that the gauge is still not usable inside the cockpit. Still working on trying to get it to work. If I make any headway, I will make a post here. Thank you for your patience. Mickey
  11. I'm sorry to hear that Jan. This guage had worked flawlessly on my earlier XP based system, but had not initially worked on my Win 7 64bit system. I had 'googled' extensively to find a solution, but couldn't find anything that worked for me. But, after a little bit of tweaking with my security settings, the above stated tweak worked for me, and the gauge works for me now. I'm confident, what ever it is that is causing this gauge NOT to function, is related to the security settings of Win 7. I'm sure you have already done that, but just to verify, did you turn your UAC off and also do you run the install and DBbuilder 'as administrator'. Mickey Dear Bob, I'm happy to help, though I'm no software geek either. I only got to this tweak, because I really like to use this gauge and I didn't find any workable solution to my problem, in my extensive google search on the topic. Just so that we are on the same page. 1. Make sure your UAC is 'OFF'. 2. Make sure you run the install AND the database builder 'As Administrator'. Now, as I see from your post above, you installed the program at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X,tso this is where you will find the "Mahasoft" folder. In my case I had installed the gauge to its default location of C:\Program File (x86) so it created the Mahasoft folder in the root directory. Since, you appear to have installed it a different path, you will find it at that place. Inside the 'Mahasoft' folder, you should find three files. DBA.dll, DBBuilder.exe and manual.pdf. Run DBBuilder.exe as administrator as per the steps listed in my first post. Do confirm, if it works for you this time. Happy landings, Mickey
  12. Holgar Maass had coded a wonderful gauge for FS9/FSX which provided an in-cockpit taxiway layout in a GPS type gauge. Unfortunately, Windows 7 users (including myself) were not able to use this gauge. I have extensively searched various forums for a remedy to the solution and on not finding any, tried some debugging myself. I'm happy to report that the issue is caused by the 'security settings' of the Windows 7. By default, the gauge automatically installs to ...../Program Files (X86)/Mahosoft/Airport Chart Gauge. Since the install folder is located in the 'program files (x86)' folder, windows restricts access to any sub-folder in this folder. After installing the airport chart gauge in the usual manner, navigate to your program files (x86) folder and locate the folder 'Mahosoft'. Right click on this folder and click 'properties'. In the 'General' tab of the resulting window, look for 'Attributes' of this folder. The first attribute "Read-only (Only applies to files in this folder) would have a blue fill in the check box next to it. Click on this 'check box' to ensure that it is UNCHECKED (i.e. remove the read only attribute for this folder). When you hit okay, windows will ask you if you want to apply this attribute to all the sub-folders of this folder, click 'Yes'. Do not close the 'program files (x86) folder, and run the 'Airport Chart DB Builder'. This time it WILL rebuild the database from FSX and your gauge will now work in FSX. After you close the 'program files (x86)' folder, the read only attributes will be reapplied to the Mahasoft sub-folder again, but it doesn't matter because the gauge doesn't require the 'write' attributes till you rebuild the database again. This worked for me. Hope it helps you folks as well. Mickey AviaScorp. Do let me know, if this post helped any of you. Thanks. Mickey AviaScorp. Please do let me know, if this fix works for you folks. Mickey AviaScorp
