  1. Andy, you made my day (or evening, so to speak) 🙂 Great post, btw !
  2. Wonderful post with an interesting narration and superb shots, P_7878 !!
  3. I couldn't have said it better 😀 Funny that you pass over Altoona, because just yesterday a saw a very interesting documentary that covered the glorious past of Altoona as one of the biggest, if not the biggest steam locomotive hub in the US from the 1930s to 1960s. After that the diesel locos took over and the city sadly lost a great deal of its business.
  4. Thanks for the pics, buddy. I too am happy that we can fly the Herc again with a real flight deck. From the comments I have read so far, many people complain though that it is overpriced for what it offers. The only CS plane I have so far is the 767, which is ok for me, as I bought it at their Xmas sale for €9.99. Maybe I should do the same with the Herc, which, incidentally, I bought for that price many moons ago for FSX 😀😀
  5. That looks really cool, buddy! It's funny, but so many of these vintage liveries look really good also on modern planes. They also have much more diversity than the modern ones, which in many (not in all) cases just have a white body with a colored tail.
  6. FSX looks pretty good over payware scenery at 1000 ft and above. But don't go any lower 😀
  7. Thank you all very much for commenting, my friends. There are quite a number of freeware airstrips for PNG and the Indonesian part of Papua on the .to site, but the sceneries by Ken add a lot more charming details such as people, animals, laundry etc etc. 🙂
  8. I fully agree with you, my friend. I have only bought selected airports from Redwing like in Germany, France and a few on the US East coast. But I have also bought all their airports in Northern Africa, which were important in the 1930s for the French poastal route. I plan to do this trip too, as it looks very interesting.
  9. Indie developer Ken Hall has recently released his second batch of PNG airstrips. They are available at the ORBX site and are a fantastic way to bring this remote part of the world to life. Susi Air of course does not fly in this part of Papua, but I like the livery, so I was able to convince them to transfer one of their Pilatus planes, which usually operates in the Indonesian part of Papua 🙂 Climb, baby, climb Flying along Papua’s eastern shore. In the distance you can see Umboi Island Over Yalumet. No other plane blocks the runway Thanks for viewing
  10. Excellent Andy. Normally I don't like to look at pics captured in the evening/night, as you can hardly see a thing, but these are really nice !
  11. Wonderful trip, Andy. Thanks for taking us along. I have the same add-ons you have and flying around here low and slow brings back many fond memories of past travels in rl. Today I don't see myself anymore spending 14 to 15 hours in an airplane, disregarding the class you travel in.
  12. Thanks a lot Patrick and Ryan. Modern airships today can reach up to 70 mph. These older, much bigger rigid airships could go up to 80 mph under full throttle and maximum thrust in still air. The highest estimated ground speed an airship (the Hindenburg, which crashed 1937 at Lakehurst) ever achieved was 188 mph. That was because of a very favorable tail wind of over 100 mph !
  13. Very nice flight in a plane carrying your favorite color 🙂🙂
