  1. At the moment I'm making a repaint for the Carenado C337. I'm making a black/red military O-2, and this aircraft has the tail number on the fin, instead of on the tail boom, because of there is text in that position. Im getting stuck on adding the panel.cfg to the livery package. Without adding the panel.cfg part, the aircraft shows up and works fine in MSFS, but as soon as I add the replacement panel file, things go wrong. Im following the SDK manual on the MSFS website ( https://docs.flightsimulator.com/html/Samples_And_Tutorials/Tutorials/Creating_A_Livery_Package.htm ), so I assume I'm doing it the correct way, but apparently I'm still doing something wrong. The content of the simobjects>airplanes>Carenado_C337_N101BL folder looks like this: MODEL.N101BL PANEL.N101BL TEXTURE.N101BL aircraft.cfg I added the new folder to the panel entry (panel = "N101BL") of the aircraft.cfg and I added an entry to the layout.json file, that I copied from the original layout, json where I corrected the folder path names: { "path": "SimObjects/Airplanes/Carenado_C337_N101BL/panel.N101BL/panel.cfg", "size": 6127, "date": 13324750343446207 }, Then I created a panel.cfg, according to how it's described in the SDK manual: [VARIATION] override_base_container = 0 (0 only overrides the [VPainting02] section of the original panel.cfg) [VPainting02] size_mm = 1024,256 texture = RegistrationNumber location = exterior painting00 = Registration/Registration.html?font_color=white, 0, 0, 1024, 256 Now, when I start MSFS and look up the aircraft, the livery, that was in the list before I added the panel folder, is no longer there. I also had this with another aircraft (Black Sqaure Analog King Air) and there I managed to fix this by copying the complete original panel.cfg, added the [VARIATION] override_base_container=1 (1 stands for override the complete original file) to the top of the text and then the aircraft showed up in the livery list and I could make changes to the tail number, so I thought to do the same for the C337. However, now I do get the aircraft in the livery list, I can set the tail number size as 1, 1 (instead of 1024, 256) in both places and remove the tail number. Now I can load the aircraft, but now panel gets messed up. I get the GTN750 (which is not installed at the moment) while the GNS530 is selected, the switches from audio panel stick through the top of the GTN750 and I cant activate the tablet anymore, to change the GTN750 back to the GNS530. I tried removing everything from the copied original panel.cfg file besides the parts shown in the SDK manual, but this gives me the same result as when I use the complete file. Then it looks like this: [VARIATION] override_base_container = 0 [VPainting02] size_mm = 1, 1 texture = $RegistrationNumber_a1 location = exterior painting00=CustomRegistration/CustomRegistration.html?font_style=l3&font_color=0x20201f&font_scale=1.1, 0, 0, 1, 1 I tried removing the entries of the aircraft.cfg that are no longer in use, according to the SDK manual, but this doesnt make any difference. I also tried removing the $ from "texture = $RegistrationNumber_a1", since the SDK manual says its no longer in use, but no luck, and I tried removing the "_a1" on a wild guess, but also no luck. To make it complete, I'll add the aircraft.cfg: [VERSION] major = 1 minor = 0 [VARIATION] base_container = "..\Carenado_C337_Skymaster" [FLTSIM.0] title = "Carenado C337 Night Flier" ; Variation name model = "N101BL" ; model folder panel = "N101BL" ; panel folder sound = "" ; sound folder texture = "N101BL" ; texture folder kb_checklists = "" ; Procedures/Checklist sibling file name kb_reference = "" ; Reference information sibling file name description = O-2 Skymaster, as used in the movie The Night Flier, based on a short story by Stephen King. wip_indicator = 1 ; know if the variation is good to go or still WIP : -1=Disabled, 0=Rough, 1=1st Pass, 2=Finished ui_manufacturer = "Cessna" ; e.g. Boeing, Cessna ui_type = "C337" ; e.g. 747-400, 172 ui_variation = "Skymaster" ; e.g. World Air, IFR Panel ui_typerole = "Twin Engine Prop" ; e.g. Single Engine Prop, Twin Engine Prop, Rotorcraft, etc ui_createdby = "Demious" ; e.g. Asobo Studio, Microsoft, FSAddonCompany, etc ui_thumbnailfile = "" ; app relative path to ThumbNail image file atc_id = "N101BL" ; tail number atc_airline = "" ; airline name atc_flight_number = "" ; flight number atc_heavy = 0 ; heavy? atc_parking_types = "RAMP" ; "ANY" / "RAMP" / "CARGO" / "MIL_CARGO" / "MIL_COMBAT" / "GATE" / "DOCK" atc_parking_codes = "" ; Comma separated and may be as small as one character each atc_id_color = "0xffffffff" ; color for the tail number : i.e. "#ffff00ff" atc_id_font = "" ; font for the tail number isAirTraffic = 0 ; Is the plane usable for air traffic isUserSelectable = 1 ; Is the plane selectable by the user I Hope that one of the more seasoned re-painters can see what I'm doing wrong here. Some advise would be very much appreciated,
  2. Omg, Rick, that sounds like an entertaining flight! 😉 I'm interested in learning all those things, but I'm glad I'm safe in my office when flying. 😋
  3. This morning I saved a video about this, I think. I didnt have time to watch it completely, but Im gonna have a look. Thanks guys!
  4. I found that switch, but it has been at least 5 years since Ive been simming, so for now I'll keep it basics, at least until I find a proper tutorial about the Bendix King KNS-80. So for now I stick to basic Nav1/Nav2 use. And some ADF, if needed. Just wondering, why would there be a Nav2 if you cant use it?
  5. Ive been practicing flying the Black Square Analog King Air for a couple of days now, but I still havent found how to switch between nav source Nav1 and Nav2. Ive been watching videos, but this doesnt seem to be very helpful. Why do people buy an analog cockpit to not fly the analog way and still choose the lazy way, using a GPS? Doesnt that defy the whole reason of having an analog cockpit? Sometimes I wish I wasnt autistic, just to understand what is going on in the neuro-typical world. 😉 Not sure its worth it, though. 😁 But anyway, can someone help me out and tell me how to switch between navigation sources Nav1 and Nav2?
  6. I noticed, several times already, that I get very, in my opinion, strange taxi routes. Just yet, I was parked at a gate at EBBR INN5 (I'm using Navigraph charts), and I'm going to runway 25R. Just looking at the chart, for me, the logical route would be: INN5, OUT6, E6, cross runway 19 F5, W4, W41, hold for take-off. But the route given is: INN5, OUT5, OUT6, INN7 (going south, while east is the direct way to where I need to be), OUT7 (doubling back north, to the place I was a minute before), E6, then I have to jump to the south to E5, cross runway 19, back north to F5 (over runway 19, to the place I just was, which connects directly to E6), W4, W41, where I'm getting ready to get ont he runway, but then I have to go back to W4 and when I get clearance, I think I they expect me to jump over W41, to get to the runway. Considering environmentally responsible fuel planning, this seems a very strange procedure. Is this correct procedure, or is MSFS F-ing up big time? And if so, what can I do to fix this?
  7. After reinstalling and doing the exact same thing as before, I do get a picture of the unit in the panel menu and I can assign commands. I tried to download snipppets, but non of the downloads I tried gave any response in the cockpit of any aircraft. Also the radio frequencies arent updated to what is shown in the cockpit. Starting from scratch, guessing about what commands might be relevant to what I'm after isnt working, as expected. Where can I find information about how to create commands that work in the cockpit?
  8. I'm trying to get my VRInsight MCP IIB working with MSFS, through Spad Next, but I'm going to need some guidance in how to do this. I looked in the manuals of both, but besides Spad Next manual saying that MCP II is supported, I havent been able to fin anything. I've installed the VRInsight VRiSim and MCP II Combo software. On the Spad Settings/Devices page Ive set up a Serial device, with the Serial Port Com3 (which is the port the VRInsight is connected to), and a VRInsight protocol, restarted Spad and then I get a button saying VRINSIGHT MCP II, but nothing happens when I activate that button. In the settings window it says I have to click a button, but that doesnt do anything... I've been googling for an explanation or tutorial, all afternoon, but havent been able to find anything useful. Some help would be very much appreciated.
  9. I have the Carenado Skymaster and some models have a white interior and others a black interior. Today I added an addon livery and that in itself works fine, but its a dark livery and it has the white interior assigned to it. Which entry, in which file do I need to change to switch the interior?
  10. I'm trying to assign controller switches to the MSFS own controls options, but when I want to validate an assignment I entered, MSFS gets stuck and I cant do anything anymore. Only thing I can do is restart the sim, but this way I'm not going to get my controllers assigned, of course. What do I do to get unstuck, or even better, not get stuck in the first place?
  11. Since the hardware seems to be sending the correct data, this looks to me like this is a software issue. I noticed a couple of times that control data from my yoke doesnt get picked up correctly by FS2020, but before it were glitches, only now the ailerons seem stuck. When I move left or right, the yoke in the cockpit doesnt respond at all, while it responds perfectly fine to pitch input (also buttons on the yoke work fine), only when I turn the yoke close to max, the aircraft jerks onto a steep bank. When checking the connection to FSUIPC, everything seems fine and every small input is registered over the complete range of motion, so it doesnt seem to be the yoke, there's something going wrong in the connection between FSUIPC and FS2020. Is there someone who knows what this might be, or even better, how to fix this?
  12. Indeed Stans, I know the drill! All to well... 😁
  13. At the moment I clicked the post button, I remembered: AoA! Ive been thinking about it for 3 days. Haha 😁
  14. It has been a while since I last used my flightim and visited this forum. So, hello everyone, Im back! Good to see there are still quite a few names and avatars I remember. 😊 I havent had time to sim the past years, but lately I managed to free up some time and I was curious about FS2020, so I thought what the heck, its not a sin to make some time for myself, to do what I like! 😜 I notice that I have to freshen up my knowladge and skills 'a little' (I didnt have a clue what to do in the Skymaster, my vavorite aircraft! I dont even want to think of what's going to happen if I start up a PMDG or the Dash again 🤣), after such a long time and I remembered that when I started simming, back in 2010, I believe, I found a website with flight courses, but for the life of me, I cant remember the name of the course or the website. Ive been googling, but with the increase in interest in FS the past years, the amount of websites is quite overwelming and I havent been able to find it. What I do remember is that it was a very decent video course, in a program that had courses at several levels, from a GA course for new pilots to more advanced courses for GA and airliner (PMDG 737, if im not mistaken), and what might give some people a useful clue, the starting course(s) was done with the Realair Duke! It was quite wellknown, if I remember correctly and I remember purchasing a couple of courses there. Is there anyone who remembers this, around 2010, beginner flightsim video course for FSX, using a Realair Duke? If anyone remembers this and could help me find this again, would be very much appreciated. Cheers! Maarten
