  1. Good call on filing the different STAR. I did encounter this restriction with LAX CTR on VATSIM. I should pay more attention to the options, as I usually file whatever PFPX gives me. I am flying this route again now (ATC is not online) and I was able to plan before T/O by adding the ring around PGY at 25nm and guessing a distance from the IFHEI way point and adding a custom way point with the altitude restriction. It is only about 3.5 nm before IFHEI...I guess the FAA in their infinite wisdom couldn't have just said "cross IFHEI at 11000.
  2. Ok. I did a search and found many useful threads, but none answered my exact question. First, let me give an example of where I need help. Flying into SAN on the BARET 4 arrival, there is a restriction that states "Expect to cross 24NM Northeast of the PGY Vortac at 12,000. OK, I know how to do this if PGY was part of the route or if it were to give something like "Expect to cross 24 DME from the PGY vortac on the 45 degree radial at 12,000". The problem is determining at which point along the Star is 24nm from PGY. I know I could give it a best guess and manually aim for 12000 by tuning PGY and watching the DME but there has to be a more accurate and less involved way (especially on this already intense approach/landing) to load this in the FMC and use VNAV to hit this point....right? 3. So I am flying into ORD on the JVL6 arrival. It contains an altitude restriction of FL180 15 miles west of JVL. My question is how would I add this?
  4. Thanks for the responses. I thought it may have been FSX related. I guess if I plan on going back to ICN I'll need to look at getting an add on scenery for that or try to edit the default. With so many route options using the T7 it well probably be a while before I'm back though! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  5. Just finished my first long haul DFW-ICN. Everything worked great including time compression. The only problem I had (and this very well could be FSX) was that the ILS for 15L lined me up with the taxiway between the two runways. My guess is something is up with the airport itself in FSX. It wasn't a big deal because the weather was VFR so I just disconnected the autopilot and corrected the approach. I know some ILSs are offset but this was dead center on the taxiway. Also, the AI aircraft looked like the were having problems (driving around in the grass etc.). I have never been to this part of the world. I also noticed a river that seemed to be off as well...instead of running through the valley between two hills it just cut right through the middle of one of the hills. 6. Sounds exactly like what I experienced with the NGX. It was, however, corrected with the "highmenfix" line in the .cfg which I see you did. My only suggestion would be to go back and double check it is in there exactly correct. Other than that I don't know what else to try. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  7. Finally pushed it out of the PMDG hanger today! Did some taxi work at KPAE in the house livery then an AA delivery flight to KDFW for the press. Not sure where to next...maybe up to KJFK for my first Trans-Atlantic to EGLL. Read through a friend's manuals over the weekend but still got taken off guard by the manual speed control on approach and over flew the localizer. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    Long Haul Tutorial

Angle of Attack looks to be exactly what I was looking for! Can't wait to get my hands on both the T7 and AOA material! I even watched their two pre-release videos but I didn't catch on to what AOA was!

    Long Haul Tutorial

We can get you a wig! Awesome...I will check that out!
  10. Hi all, I have been reading these forums constantly for the past few weeks as we got closer to release day. I have never done a long haul flight in the sim and believe now that we have a stable time compression ability I will be doing many of them. My thing is I am reading a bunch of terms that I am somewhat familiar with but not 100%. I know that with long haul flights there will be lots of things to learn in order to do it properly. I also imagine I am not the only one in this position (mostly flying shorter flights within the U.S.). Unfortunately my T7 is still in the PMDG hanger as I am still getting the financing terms worked out with my bank (wife). I was wondering if there is anything in the PMDG documents or somewhere out on the interweb where I can learn about how everything is different outside of domestic short hauls. For example: NATs, Step Climbs, Auto-Cruise, Polar Routes, ATC differences in other countries, etc.. If not, it would be awesome if one of our members with the heart of a teacher could do some kind of program to get everyone on the same page. I would pay for something if it were done right. Kinda like those King School videos for pilot training. I am imagining a full "course" with videos and reading material. Obviously I am looking for something geared toward the PMDG 777 but a generic overview would be fine too. Just a thought. Wesley Frost
  11. That's funny! The best part is all the training I had to do as an employee of an airline about how we can't transport Segways due to the lithium batteries'..but there they are riding around unsecured in cargo! I hope to at least have the correct dangerous goods forms or I'm gonna have to delay departure so they can be removed and their owner needs to be informed so they can decide if they want to go without them or stay behind as well. 12. I like the new AA livery...it doesn't look as good up close as it does flying overhead though. As an employee I was reluctant at first but it's growing on me. The bare metal will look great as a throw back retro plane though....kinda like the 737 I see every once in a while with the orange stripe. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  13. I am trying to add AI traffic to FSX and am having some issues. I downloaded all of the packages from WOAI and installed those no problem. The problem is they do not have American Eagle. I have found several American Eagle packages on AVSIM but can't for the life of me figure out how to install those. I think my biggest problem is they do not include the aircraft models or textures.
  14. Alright, I have made some adjustments lets see what you all think. I took the advise about looking into the i5 and used the difference to upgrade to SSD, upgrade the motherboard and cooling. The price did go up to $1200 which makes me itch a little. CPU-i5 3570k-CHANGED Motherboard-Asus P8Z77-V (SATA 6GBs, USB 3.0 with UEFI Bios)-CHANGED SSD-ADATA SP9000 256GB SATA III-CHANGED CPUCooling-Corsair H80-CHANGE Case Cooling-(2x) Cooler Master 120mm-NO CHANGE GPU-Gigabyte GTX 560ti-NO CHANGE PSU-NO CHANGE Memory-NO CHANGE Windows-NO CHANGE
  15. Okay. If I want to get a small SSD as opposed to the HDD what would be the minimum size to start with? My FSX folder is coming in at 24GB. Would 250GB be enough to start with and then add a HDD down the road if I decide to expand? I still have my "everyday" pc for day-to-day use. This new build will start out pretty much dedicated to Flight Sim.
