  1. Yeah, I was figuring 32GB would be necessary at some point. I’ve played on 8gb my last build which was a bit tight, haha. I will very likely add an additional two 8gb memory sticks down the line. Thanks for highlighting that. I did see those compatibility notes - I wasn’t sure if the sata ports being disabled was a result of MOBO limitations. I was considering swapping out the MOBO or graphics card due to the possible HDD restrictions but I don’t think I’ll ever add enough HDDs to where that would become an issue. I already have a 1TB HDD for storage and if needed I can add one more at 2 or 3TB just to future-proof it. I think the only heavy storage needs I’d have would be for something like Ortho scenery. If you have any suggestions though, please feel free to share! Trying to get as much feedback as possible for anything I might be overlooking, missing, etc. Thank you!!
  2. Wow! Does that come from raised shipping costs? Thanks for the feedback!
  3. Hi all, Was hoping to get some reviews of the below build I'm planning on. Primarily to play X Plane at moderate to high sliders (where I can) and hopefully be able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator when it's released later in 2020. Looking to stay at about the current price point. Any feedback, tips, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kyPBgw
  4. Hi all, Hoping that someone here can help me with a very specific problem - several years ago I purchased the Volair FlightSim chair (great product, highly recommend it.) At the time I used the included velcro strips to attach my Saitek equipment (multi panel, switch panel, etc.) to the Volair desk. However, the velcro has proven to be not very effective. I would like to attach these devices using screws - however the screws that came with the Saitek equipment cannot be found. I've tried a bunch of different types of screws from my toolbox, but can't seem to find one that fits. I even reached out to Saitek/Logitech support - they provided me with a diagram (which I can't seem to attach here?), however I'm still not clear on what screws I need to purchase. If someone could help me understand which screws I need in order to screw the Saitek equipment into the Volair Flight sim chair I would be very appreciative. Thank you for your help!
  5. Hi all, A bit of a random question (and I apologize if I did not select the appropriate forum for this), but I thought someone might know of a product I'm trying to find... My wife and I are working towards closing on our first home. This house has a finished basement (sweet!) with a sump pump. Based on the recent inspection we had done, it doesn't look like they've had any issues with flooding in the last 6 years and we are not in a flood zone, but I'm still concerned about the potential for water entering the basement. Parts of the town we live in can sometimes have problems with drainage when it rains very heavily. So basically, I'm looking to see if there's a raised platform or water resistant mat or something similar I could put my Volair Sim gaming chair and full tower gaming PC on just to take extra precautions. I've been looking around online a bit and haven't been able to find quite what I'm looking for. The entire gaming chair/PC setup is probably 60 inches/68 inches. If anyone has any recommendations on what I'm trying to find I'd be most appreciative!
  6. Finally got it! Pretty much skimmed the cabin roof with my tires and had to slide the aircraft to keep from hitting trees, but it's a landing. Kinda looked like Starsky and Hutch hehe
  7. Hi all, I've been playing the missions from TakeFlight's Air Alaska add on for FSX:SE. I've really enjoyed it so far. However, for the second mission I'm running into some issues. I'm trying to land in front of the cabin but I keep either clipping trees and crashing or running out of runway space. Has anyone else had difficulty with this mission? Is there something I'm missing? I've also noticed, I can't deploy flaps - I'm not sure if that's programmed into the mission or not? I'm using the default Cub with ORBX scenery version of this mission. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  8. Hi all, I'm trying to find a good map following app for my iPad to work with FSX:SE. Basically I want to try my GA aircraft's flight plan on a map. The two apps I've seen recommended the most so far are FSXFollow and RemoteFlight. Do these apps still work with FSX:SE are they still recommended or are their other apps that others prefer? Also, any other good FSX:SE apps to have for iPhone/iPad?
  9. Hi all, I have a Saitek Pro Flight Elevator Trim and I've noticed that when I use it in FSX:SE it is not very responsive - meaning that I have to turn the trim wheel numerous times to move the trim just a little bit in the aircraft (my best estimate is that ever 4-5 turns of the actual trim wheel translates into one actual turn in the FSX:SE aircraft.) Do I need to increase the sensitivity and reduce the null zone in the Control settings to correct this? I'm going to test now but wanted to post my question here first in case there were other suggestions I hadn't thought of. As always, your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  10. Hi all, I installed a few Carenado planes and am having trouble finding some of the documentation for them. When I browse to Flight Simulator X\steamapps\common\FSX\Carenado I see documentation for Bonanza A36 Bonanza V35B Commander 114 However, I do not see documentation for: C172N C185F I've searched a few different locations for these manuals, but have been unsuccessful in finding them. I've also tried reinstalling the C185F to see if the documentation would appear in the Flight Simulator X\steamapps\common\FSX\Carenado, but again, no luck. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative. Thanks!
  11. Hi all, I saw ORBX is running a sale on most of it's products and had a quick question. I've been looking at FTX Global Base, FTX Global Vector, and FTX Flobal openLC North America. Are all 3 products generally recommended or are some more highly recommended over others? I've seen mostly positive reviews where I've looked so far. Also, would the correct install order be: Global Base Vector open LC North America Also, any noted performance issues from installing all 3 onto your system? I should note I am using FSX:SE Thanks for your feedback. It is appreciated!
  12. That did it! I was able to manually load the scenery. Now when I launch FSX I do not get a prompt from either the Kilimanjaro airport DLC or the Air Alaska missions DLC (and both seem to work properly). Thank you VERY much for your help Poppet! It is truly appreciated!
  13. Thank you very much for your continued help, it is truly appreciated. I confirmed that UAC is set to "Never notify". I went back and checked the DLL.XML file and the EXE.XML file. In the EXE.XML file, I found one <ManualLoad> which had TRUE and changed it to FALSE: This did prevent those pop-ups from displaying when FSX launched! I went and tested both of the add-ons that were causing me issue: The Air Alaska add-on seemed to work fine (I tested a minute or two of the first mission w/o issue). Though it did take maybe 30-45 seconds for the loading bar to progress past 0% - if that means anything The Kilimanjaro airport add-on did not load when I tried to start a flight there. It appears only the default scenery loaded I should also note, that I used the Steam client to uninstall all of the FSX DLC (I unchecked the Install box), rebooted, and then installed each DLC item again (checked the install box and let the download/install take place), launched FSX, closed FSX, and then installed the next DLC item. When I checked the scenery library in FSX I did not see anything in the list which referenced Kilimanjaro or Aerosoft - though, to be honest, I'm not exactly sure the exact phrase I was looking for. Again - I sincerely appreciate all of the assistance. Thank you!
  14. Just a quick update - I tried searching for SODEPlatformManager.exe in the location you described above, but could not find that file path (there was no 12bPIlot folder). I also tried running SimObjectDisplayEngine.exe as administrator, but it made no difference. A search of my entire PC for SODEPlatformManager.exe yielded no results. Interestingly though - I bought a few additional add-ons during Steam's FSX flash sale. Most of the add-ons installed fine. Steam installed them, and when I launched FSX it asked me if I wanted to run a specific component > I'd hit Run > and then I'd get the second prompt from Windows asking if I wanted to run that same component and I would again hit Run. After that I wouldn't see those messages anymore. But one of the add-ons I purchased (Air Alaska Add-On) has the same issue. I only get the first prompt from FSX asking if I want to run the component (pictured below). I never get the second prompt from Windows asking if I want to run that same component. https://flic.kr/p/Ng6Kkb
