  1. This post is hilarious to read. It is just one persons opinion. If everyone who opposes that opinion would stop posting on the topic, then it would be off the first page in a matter of hours. At that point everyone would loose interest quickly and probably wouldn't see it again!!
  2. Thanks....I tried with Bing around Halifax but didn't look great at z16. Might try z17 later today or try with a different source like USA2. Having trouble finding sources without clouds in this part of the world. Oh well...the default still looks better than any of the other sims I used to use (new X-plane user since version 11). Wish someone would do a good version of the city of Halifax and CYHZ or maybe more airports in the Maritimes. I found a great version of Sydney, Nova Scotia, but nothing else of this quality.
  3. What sources are you using for orthoimagery in the Maritimes? I couldn't find anything that worked well. I'm hoping to cover some of Canada.
  4. I noticed most people use flyinside+VR for P3D. Will this still be necessary now that there is native VR support?
  5. I installed ASN and SimLauncherX on a client machine and they both connect and seem to work well over the network. Only problem is that the weather stations don't show up on the map anymore at any zoom level. They used to show when I previously had P3D V2 installed, but ever since I reinstalled with P3D V3 they stations don't appear. I have the Active Sky Data folder pointing to the correct place on the client and weather provider set as Active Sky Next. Tried everything I could think of, including reinstalling both programs, but nothing seems to work. Hopefully just a setting I am missing? The correct weather is being sent from ASN to P3D on the server. Thanks, Steve
  6. I had everything set up for networking on client according to manual but could not get it to connect. After several days of trying the same steps over and over I finally looked in the windows firewall settings (control panel). Clicked on "allow a program or feature through windows firewall" and SlxServer was not selected under name column, although it was selected under Home/Work (Private) network. I had to use change setting at top of screen before I could select SlxServer. Slx connected immediately on the client once this was selected. Windows 7 64-bit on both computers. I could have saved a lot of time if I had just checked the windows firewall settings in control panel. Hope this might help for someone else. This is a great program especially when you can get it to run on a client PC.
  7. Presently I use FSX and fly the default 737 a lot with Aerosystems Avionics software . I would like to try P3D 2.2 but noticed there is no default 737. Is it possible to import aircraft from FSX into P3D or is there other software (737) that works in P3D and is also compatible with Aerosystems Avionics. Hoping that someone else has tried this before I buy P3D. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  8. Yes it only seems to fluctuate during full screen and spikes are much worse in windowed mode. Only get the odd spike in full screen and only when I have been flying in windowed mode first.
  9. I don't use Bufferpools section either. I did notice that is seems to be much worse when I run FSX in windowed mode. If I switch back to full screen then GPU clocks goes back to normal and most of the spikes disappear.
  10. i did a flight with water on low 2x and got the spikes again. After about 20 min the Radeon Pro OSD showed the GPU clocks fluctuating between 300 Mhz/150 Mhz and 850 Mhz/1250 Mhz. VRAM is always around 500 MB of 3072 MB. Just wondering if this is normal for the GPU clock to flucuate like this and if this could be leading to the spikes for me. Trying a second flight and GPU clocks seem to be staying at 900/1250...no spikes yet. Also if I go back to DX9, can I use the same settings for Radeon Pro (I used the guide on this forum)? Thanks, Steve
  11. Tried the 5870 again and had no issues with water on high. Went back to 7950 and had spikes with water on high. No spikes with water on low 2x. No more time to test today but will look at other scenarios tomorrow. Wonder if anyone with 6000 series is having problems?
  12. I will reinstall 5870 next week and make sure I didn't have this issue in the past (If I did it would have been very minimal since I never noticed it in the past). Don't think it is a power issue to the card since I believe the 7950 uses less power than the 5870 (power supply is 700w and decent brand). Also, I haven't added any new hardware besides the video card. I guess I could just use the 5870 since the frame rates were fine in the past or just stick with DX9 and the new card. Forgot to mention the only Tweaks I use are HIGHMEMFIX=1 and widescreen=True. Steve
  13. Hi, I have the same problem with Tears and Spikes with Cat 13.4 with HD 7950 and 3930K@4,5 Ghz The odd thing is I didn't get any of this with my old 5870 and same cpu (haven't changed any settings and hardly any changes to cfg. file). Also using the exact same settings in Radeonpro with both cards. I use the original shader fixes for DX10 but haven't bought the Fixer yet. Think I will go back to DX9 for now and hold off on buying the DX10 Fixer until people are having more success. Will follow this thread to see if there are any solutions.
