  1. I didn't mean to judge how things work internally right now, because I don't know how they work. I meant, a lot of things were said as impossible long time ago when MS dropped FSX. And yet, in 2015 we have things like weather radar! So, it's probably less complicated having developers working on the product to talk about, than nothing at all! Well, as I said, probably! Who knows. Anyway, judging by the pace of things, I wouldn't "hope" anything for XP11. I would just forget about it, otherwise it will be a long road of painful wait!
  2. I really don't think anyone will need to wait for XP11. Devs are doing amazing things for FSX, a dated and no longer supported platform. Why wouldn't they be able to do something with XP10? When you have a direct channel to contact the developers, whom are constantly working in the product? I follow their Developers Blog, and they seem pretty humble regarding considering peoples opinion. Not that they will do anything anyone asks, though.
  3. I know XP uses an striped-down OpenStreetMap data, by default, since quite a while! When you said "will be using..in the future" I though I missed some announcement!
  4. Probably the first time I read a reasonable comparison between FSX/P3D and XP. Well done Mr. Kuepper!
  5. My XP install always had 2 ".exe": X-Plane.exe and X-Plane-32bit.exe Does that mean I'm not really running 64 bits? And how about the plugins having 32 and 64bit compilations?
  6. That's definitely seeing the glass half-empty!! Looking at a constantly supported and updated plataform as a downside! WOW! If you take a look at XPlane's Development Blog you'll see that the devs are very conscious about making and breaking stuff. They update things considering not to break anything, and when necessary they advise third-party devs. Also that's why their Beta periods are for.
  7. I was just curious, as I never fly online. Didn't know that it mixes different simulators at once. Interesting. Thanks for the reply.
  8. Why? Also, you can only have access to beta versions (if you want to) on non-Steam versions. Claus, don't forget to take a look até Alpilotx's HD mesh and land data updates. They're free (well, donationware) and they're AWESOME! http://www.alpilotx.net/
  9. Just to join the speculation train... Cpt. Robert said that will be something different (from jets? from Boeing?), yet the mindset is similar to the times of J41, and yet it's still secret. So if I had to put my money on something, it would be the ATR 72. Even though I'm aware there's one for XP already.
  10. But it needs to start somewhere, doesn't it? Your vision is ok (who am I to judge? lol). I actually replied thinking of a lot of people I see, especially on YouTube, always using these arguments, but with a FS-###### mindset, which is no good either way. In my honest opinion, the major drawback for XP right now are the aircrafts. I mean, in the top level simulation ballpark. Great addons usually orbit around great aircraft. I own the PMDG 777 and some XP aircraft, and non of the later gets even close to the same quality level. With a PMDG-like aircraft, more serious simming starts to happen and the market becomes more clear to complement this experience.
  11. It's funny to always read things like that. Do you guys realise that almost (if not all) those things are pretty darn simple on default FSX too? One day FSX had nothing, it takes time (and users) for it to grow.
  12. I sure may be misunderstanding something. But watching again, the captain actually was talking about wake turbulence. He says exactly the following: "The last time I've had such turbulences years ago during an approach to Bangkok with a A330, we were behind a Thai B747. The autopilot was flying when suddenly the aircraft banked by 30°. There was a lot of tension. The co-pilot wanted to disconnect the autopilot. I told him not to do it and let the autopilot fly. It was the right choice. It then banked 30° to the other side before it stabilized itself. Although it wasn't that strong, everything returned back to normal." That's from where I got that theory. But, who am I to state something about it!
  13. That happened to me today. (that's why I found this topic) While flying from VHHH to KSFO, already at cruise level, I noticed everytime the plane faces turbulence the A/P goes a little crazy, making huge turns. When I was watching the Pilotseye.tv video of the Aerologic's 777, I heard the captain saying that it happens indeed with the aircraft eventualy, but he also said that keeping the autopilot engage, the aircraft corrects its course withing the limited bank angle. As you said, the PMDG 777 is going beyond the 30° bank angle and triggering the alert. Also I found the aircraft really struggling to find its course back. I dunno if it's a bug or we are doing something wrong. Maybe switching the bank angle limiter at the MCP from AUTO to 30 will correct this. I'll try that when it happens again. For now, what I did to correct while it was happening was to switch to HDG HOLD mode, and when the wings were leveled I set a HDG course following the magenta line (LNAV) until leaving the turbulence zone, and then I finally back to LNAV/VNAV modes.
