  1. Hello all, I'm a P3D v3.4 user and I've been having a bit of an issue with ground textures during night flights. I have UTX Night Lighting and ORBX Global (and whatever lighting ORBX provides) installed and both seem to be coexisting well together. However, I seem to have strange, blurry ground textures that are meant to illuminate the ground but simply look BAD. They appear unrelated to any ORBX lighting, so I initially thought UTX was the culprit. However, after disabling "Autogen Lighting for UTX" via the scenery library, I saw UTX's lights disappear but these strange ones still exist. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Here's what they look like:
  2. Montie, unfortunately I will be out of town (and therefore away from my PC) until Wednesday evening. I will post my settings when I return.
  3. Here are several screenshots I got using the PTA tool. Took some time to tweak, constantly trying to balance contrast, shadow depth, with maintaining a proper balance of light in the flightdeck. Also, just to clear up any (potential) confusion, I did not bother to fly/start the aircraft, rather, I slewed up in the air and experimented with/previewed different times of day.
  4. Indeed, the flightdeck lighting is *quite* dark. How realistic that is, I don't know, as I've never been in a 737 flightdeck. Obviously it's difficult to strike an ideal setting, as sharpening up one scene at a particular time of day, angle, altitude, etc, may result in another visual circumstance looking less appealing. I prefer a softer, darker look myself but to each their own. I'm happy with the results for now but will continue to tweak/fiddle as I see fit. P3D is ever evolving. I do really appreciate the constructive feedback, though! I'll post more screenshots over time as I collect them.
  5. Here are a handful of screenshots I captured earlier tonight. Didn't bother starting the plane; it's too late and I need some rest. Slewed up and grabbed several different shots at different times of the day. Using Pe11e's shaders/recommended PTA settings, however I am *not* using SweetFx, and I'm also using a separate sky/sun texture set. I feel it makes P3D look quite a lot more like X-Plane. I'm a huge fan of both Yuri and Pe11e's work, and seeing these two come together to collaborate is incredibly impressive. Two thumbs-up to these two!
  6. Another screenshot! This is from an evening flight inbound to Chicago Midway (KMDW) via St. Louis (KSTL). *EDIT* -- one more, this one from KMDW to KDTW at night.
  7. Thanks! I'm currently using v3.2. I ended up rolling back given the current issue(s) with third-party scenery.
  8. Haswell i7 4790K, running at 4.7 GHz. Nvidia GTX970 running @ 1253 MHz. Far from perfect but this rig runs fairly well. Have had to scale back certain settings (notably anti-aliasing via NVI) in order to avoid GPU stutters, but with a Twitch stream running via OBS, I had ~20 frames on final in KJFK. Some mild CPU-related slowdown occurs; not stuttering, per se, but a slightly noticeable slowing of the frames in high autogen areas at low altitudes. Naturally there's some variance from scenery-to-scenery and aircraft-to-aircraft, too. The CPU also gets a bit warm with all of this going on, but goes no higher than the mid-70s. I'm just counting my blessings because I know how difficult these flight simulators can be to get running fairly smoothly.
  9. Some screenshots from several flights tonight. The upper portion of the sky (which honestly should not be seen) is clearly oversaturated, and that's my fault. I need to adjust some of my ezdok views. Hopefully that doesn't kill the immersion *too* much.
  10. Ever since using PTA I've noticed stutters (graphics card related, I believe) for the first time ever in my simulator. I am running *fairly* high settings within P3D, but I haven't altered my previous settings all that significantly (prior to using PTA). I have an Nvidia GTX 970 and an i7 4790K. I was curious if anyone has noticed stutters as a result of implementing these shader tweaks, and what, if anything, has been done to alleviate them. I'm also curious as to what in-sim settings people are using. Thanks!
  11. I know the texture issues have been mentioned ad nauseam, but is anyone experiencing significant performance hits at airports (other than those made by FSDT)? My Taxi2Gate, LatinVFR, and FlightBeam sceneries all cause a significant performance drop which is primarily seen as stuttering, especially when panning around/changing views.
  12. I'm sure many have already noticed this, and a note from Yuri himself may very well be on the way, however I noticed that it appears that PTA has been updated and is now compatible with v3.3. http://1coder.ru/PTA/releases.html
  13. Wonderful! Thanks for posting. Only waiting on a (functional) tool to tweak shaders, now.
  14. I believe the answer is 'yes', to your question. You understand it correctly. I was previously running v3.0 and updated to v3.3 earlier today (err, yesterday, now). At any rate, I uninstalled "Prepar3D v3.x (Professional/Academic) Client". I also uninstalled "Prepar3D v3.x Content" (however this latter step is optional). I then downloaded the Install_Client.msi from Lockheed's website, along with cont1.cab and Install_Content.msi. Again, the latter two would not be required in your situation, as far as I know. You'd then run the installer for the client and you should be all squared away!
