  1. I Have a I7 4790K OC to 4.5 ghz on 4 cores hyperthreading off and i have a steady 60 degrees on all four cores even under load in testing with a stress test, Get a H105 liquid cooler u will get the best overclock results with that not just air u will have problems.
  2. My god last time i post in X-plane forums i will just stick to the FSX side of the Fence where the gameplay is FPS high and eye candy is amazing come to the fence if u want a chat LOL Matt
  3. Mike because i get new post i haven't seen on the main page of Avsim forums and clicked on it to see what he was saying about changing to X-Plane, So before u question about why i am on X-plane forum this is Avsim forum and i am allowed to be and post in regards to any post i choose if information i give people might help with there choices and what can be achieved So stop trying to be a hero and get off topic when there is no reason for your post, I don't care either way if u choose X-plane or FSX i have no problems with FSX and its people like u that make these froums difficult at times Matt
  4. I7 4790K is the best i Built it in my new system with a GTX 780 3 gig and also used a Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard MSI, I love the new RIG and getting awesome performance like the other guys with FTX Global and Vector and FTX Australia Regions and airports i dont see below 26FPS flying into add on airports, FSX standard airports i see about 35-40fps and this is with sliders to the right and flying the PMDG 737-800 I water cooled and overclocked the I7 4790K to 4.5ghz and was steady at didn't go over 60 degrees i could of went more but was happy with the results with FSX
  5. If they can get the new Dovetail Flight sim to look like FSX with FTX scenery, add on airports and Airbus x and PMDG aircraft to run as i have spent heaps of $$$ on it im not going anywhere from FSX and wont be buying anything from dovetail The system i have built running DX10 plays FSX so smooth with FTX Scenery and add on airports and PMDG 737 with no problem im not going away from some that has beautiful eye candy and plays smooth frame rates So show me what u got Dovetail it would want to be good
  6. i7 4790K was actually made for overclockers thats why the thermal paste was improved on it but yes can be used as stock but for overclocking in mind was the main improvements made to it from the I7 4770K
  7. I have a I7 4790K and i water cooled it and overclocked it to 4.5ghz on 4 cores with hyper threading off and stock out of the box is fine at 4.0ghz but if u really want a smooth a amazing looking FSX a overclock is a must in my recommendation, I have no problems with temperature of the I7 4790K and over-voltages it stock turbo boost to 4.4ghz but i pushed it to 4.5ghz and could of gone more but was happy at that and i see about 60 degrees on all 4 cores stable. I also have the I7 4790K matched up with a GTX 780 which is a great card for cloud rendering and helps textures etc this is a 3gig card, BUT FSX IS CPU HUNGRY. I also added the Z97 MSI gaming 5 motherboard and this motherboard alone is made for overclocking, Yes FSX will run @ 4.0ghz stock of the I7 4790K but u will see a major difference by not overclocking it to 4.5GHZ. I have all FTX Australia Regions all Australia add on airports including payware YBBN,YMML,YSCB,YBCS, ASN weather engine running, Ultimate traffic 2 @ 80% traffic setting, While running the PMDG 737-800 NGX, All FSX sliders to the right except for Autogen density which is set to very dense and @ 4.5ghz overclock i don't see below 26FPS at all so my advice is OVERCLOCK !!!!!!, oh also forgot to mention i also have FTX Global and vector also on top of that. So sum it up overclocking does make a major difference on performance and if done right u wont regret doing it.
  8. I for one wont be buying this new flight sim from Dovetail and having to pay 100s for downloads and add ons to the already 100s i have spent on add ons including aircraft for FSX which i run DX 10 and its very stable If they don't make all my FTX scenery and add on aircraft like PMDG 737 and Aerosoft A320 compatible on there new flight simulator so i can purchase there new sim and put all my add ons i have now onto the sim i wont be spending more money on add ons that i am already happy with in FSX full stop. Bad move microsoft Matt
  9. Portia911 let me know what u think about it have u installed it ?
  10. Hi guys just wondering if anyone has puchased these products and what u think of them, This will fill a good gap in my YSSY and YPAD being FSX standard airports, I know fly tampa is bringing a YSSY out but was wondering the thoughts on YPAD look nice but would like feedback Matt
  11. I have the same specs as u expect I have the GTX 780 3gig, I have PMDG 737 and FTX au regions and Au Airports also have FTX Global and Vector couldn't be happier Running DX 10 with Steve DX 10 fixer and FSX.cfg tweaks and also tweaks in the Nvidia inspector set, Getting amazing performance
  12. Anyone own this program is it worth $23 ?
  13. I turned HT off on my Intel I7 4790K and OC on 4 cores to 4.5ghz running beautiful full sliders ftx recommended settings and flying PMDG 737 NGX i don't see many FPS Below 22fps
  14. I have a LG LED 27" widescreen with IPD which is better colour quality, I think its great i run it at 1920 x1080 and looks beautiful I also have LCD Samsung 32" Screen and i would say when i went back to the 27" screen i didn't really like it made it not feel like a cockpit so i have gone back to the 32" screen, Its not really overkill it looks really great and i run the 32" @ 1920 x 1080 as my cockpit screen and use the LG 27" as my approach charts, sids, stars and other information screen I run GTX 780 3gig Matt
