  1. I HAVE UPDATED THE THREAD Hello, I'm TheFrenchAviator and I'm looking for FSX partners to help me make a F/18 Formation for an Air Force One video, Please comment on the thread if you would like to be in it. Time: I will make a meeting when I get the required people. How much people do I need? I need 4. What does each position define? 3 F/18 Including me so 4 1 747-8 Air Force One (I will give freeware download link) Best of luck and I hope we get some good shots! Cheers, Chriss
  2. Hey, Im looking for F/18 mates that want to help me do a video.
  3. First of all I would like to welcome all the new members to VATSIM! Please I'm not an official member I'm just making a guide for new members, forums moderators I don't mind if you edit the thread. Basics Please note that VATSIM is not a game even FSX, it is for training sessions or virtual flying network provided with ATC, When you connect to VATSIM you need to know basic ATC knowledge and you need to know your aircraft very well. Vatsim depends on real-life charts STARS (Standard Terminal arrival routes) SIDS (Standard Instrumental departures) Without this then you will stay on the ground no matter what, You need to file a flight plan that is LEGIT with the AIRAC cycle. What is AIRAC? AIRAC is what they use like maps but it updates depending with routes from real life our current AIRAC is 1505, this can be downloaded from Navigraph and it updates depending on your subscription. Pilots Rules apply! You must read-back all thats been said by the ATC (e.g ATC: UAE123 Cleared to Dubai via ALSEM1E Departure (SID) 36R, squawk 2423. PILOT: Cleared to Dubai using ALSEM1E departure, 36R, SQUAWK 2423. ATC: Read-back is correct call for P/S This is not a complete guide still W.I.P
  4. Hello, I hope you have the correct AIRAC cycle (AIRAC 1505), but it will cost money from Navigraph. But VATSIM does not provide that. Kind regards, Chriss
  5. Hello, I usually bought the UK2000's Gatwick, Liverpool, Manchester, Heathrow, Amsterdam (MOST) and Paris-charlles-de-gaulle, Well it depends look yourself its time to explore! Kind regards, Chriss
  6. Hello, Welcome to the FSX and VATSIM community! I had to learn VATSIM the hard way but I'll tell you what I did. I started FSX when I was 12, Learnt Aircraft and after a couple of years I finally discovered VATSIM.I did't know ATC or taxing. I read the guides provided by VACC's, VATSIM and virtual airlines after I learnt ATC I decided to do my first flight. These are what you need to know. Charts for IFR and VFR, know altitudes and routes STARS (Standard terminal arrival route) SID (Standard Instrumental departure) File a proper up-to-date AIRAC flight plan Know taxi, ATC clearance know how to listen to ATIS. Airways, know the SIDS and STARS for airport. Know the arrival runways and departure runways. ATC is one of the hardest parts like the different people like English controllers there a bit hard but when you get used to it you should be fine! And finally. Clients understanding and squawk.Sorry if this is a bit long, but hopefully it covers the basics. EDIT: You wrote: "As they can give me an ILS landing runway." What if they don't give you an ILS landing runway? What if there if a storm. I suggest you do visual landings and approach as most of the time ILS sometimes won't always work. Kind regards, Chriss
  7. Hello, Here are the vPilot pros and cons: Text Easy connection Next generation Flight plans can be fetched from server! FsINN pros and cons: PushBack future if you don't own GSX. Old generation Easy/Trickyish connection using IP Can be a bit tricky These are my main points used both of them on low to mid end pcs and work great! Kind regards, Chriss
  8. Hello, I would suggest the sites from above, I think somebody should could a new one heh? Most of them are abandoned alone and mostly won't work. Kind regards, Chriss
  9. Hello, If you do not have model matching set up properly you will get errors in the vPilot or FsINN client that the aircraft will be replace if you see that, means that you are connected and you can see other pilots, make sure your frequency is open and that you can Talk and receive from the aircraft. Otherwise if you don't I suggest fresh install of both programs, that doesn't work then. Try to ask VATSIM support. Kind regards, Chriss
  10. Hello! Welcome to VATSIM network if you are new! We mostly use. VatSpy (Software) vatview.com (Website) Vattastic.com (Website) Here is the download link for VatSpy: http://www1.metacraft.com/VATSpy/ Kind regards, Chriss
  11. Hi, Sorry if I'm bumping the thread! UNICOM as 122.800 is referred on VATSIM as a text message system to others so they know information. (e.g: No controllers on Dubai or emirates airspace, change to UNICOM 122.800, OMDB tfc: Inbound ILS30L, descending to 3000ft.) basically its for you to just tell whats happening and what you are doing (NOT CONTROLLING). I'm making a guide for new VATSIM pilots. Kind regards, Chriss
  12. My deepest condolences for the family of Tom, what a great Forum he had made!
