  1. Out of curiosity are you running SLI? I too have similar issues, but only when I try to turn on SLI.
  2. Well it really depends. For future-proof-ness, then the more VRAM, the better. I have a GTX 970 which has 4GB of VRAM, and I veeeery quickly use it up when running my three monitor set up. On just one monitor though, its been fine, and I run photo scenery and the UHD mesh. At the moment, Nvidia have the 6GB 980ti and 12GB Titan X, but they are priced very high, especially here in Australia where it costs $1200 for the 980ti and $1600 for the Titan X. For now, I'd suggest waiting for the next graphics card generation, which I assume will be mid next year. Hopefully it will provide cards with more VRAM considering 4K is slowly getting cheaper and more popular.
  3. Well my FPS drops super low only when running three screens, so it may be GPU memory related like mine is. Check your GPU memory usage and report back. We might be able to relay this to the devs if its a common problem.
  4. Yeah, its fully functional, its just missing the engine management and engine damage side of things. As Comanche has said, it has a notice saying "coming soon, check for updates" or something like that. I'm almost certain that means it'll be a free update. One thing I especially love about it is the custom camera g-force thing. The headshake addon by Simcoders is great and all but this is just next level. Love it. It makes such a massive difference to how it feels to fly; makes things feel so much more... alive.
  5. So I jumped in on the hype and bought it. So far everything is as good as its made out to be in the video! Only major downside for me is that its a GPU graphics hog... which means I can't run x-plane over my three screens like I usually do or my FPS takes a dive. This is the only aircraft I've really experienced that with. Either way, it's beautiful to fly. Once that engine simulation is released... this is literally going to be A2A for X-Plane. Super stoked.
  6. Can't wait until it rolls out on steam. Bad performance even with my high end hardware is the reason I've been dealing with the OOMs of P3D instead, otherwise I prefer X-Plane for sure.
  7. As both a P3D and X-Plane user, my thoughts on X-Plane are as follows; (Note a lot of what I say about P3D is also true for FSX) +++ NO OOMS! REJOICE! WOOHOO! 64 BIT I LOVE YOU! + The flight model is fantastic. Its very fluid and feels far more responsive, much better than P3D (although there are some top quality P3D addons that come very close). + The Carenado stuff seems much better in X-Plane to me than in P3D, so there's a bunch of decent GA aircraft to buy. (with the Reality Expansion Pack addon taking them even further) + There is a huge community of free addons, from utilities to airport sceneries to world meshes; a lot of which are of very high quality. - I found X-Plane to have some pretty jarring limitations related to multi-threaded CPU usage once I started to pack it full of all the great free addons (plus some nice payware ones). This is basically a gamebreaker for me and is why I haven't touched X-Plane in a while. Maybe the new Vulkan API for Open GL will help with this (I have no idea). - The interface is difficult to get used to, but its mostly ok once you do. - The lack of a weather engine as good as Active Sky Next sucks, though I hear FS Global have something in the works. - A lot of the autogen just looks... really unconvincing and fake to me. Although I run P3D with ORBX regions so it has some hard competition there. For me, X-Plane isn't quite ready yet. That being said, it has soooo much potential, and a lot of people are digging it already. I suggest at least giving it a shot for yourself.
  8. In my opinion, G-SYNC at the moment may not be worth the price premium. If you're playing games other than the flight sims, it may be worth instead investing in three 100+hz monitors. At the same time though, a single 980 may not push most games past 60 fps at a high resolution like 5760x1080. Its a case of whatever fits your budget. I personally run a mixed bag of three plain old 1080p 60fps monitors with my two 970s and love it. Its kind of left me craving even more GPU power on some games though, but I'm probably just being greedy. Without derailing the topic, I think the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive will mostly render my 3 screens obsolete for my uses (mostly only flight and racing sims) - and they're due out at the end of this year/start of next year. Just something to consider if you're getting a triple monitor setup for the same reasons I did.
  9. Hopefully there was something wrong with your UTX install, because as much as I love Vector, the VAS hit is pretty nuts. From your earlier shots, vector + OLC looked much better and more accurate to me.
  10. That's a good sign. It means there are no other bottlenecks in your system, and P3D is making use of all of your GPU's power. Nothing to be worried about.
  11. I've been running Windows 10 for a few days now. I can't comment on whether its given me better performance in P3D, as I changed around some of my addons and settings too. It is possible that it helped however. We won't know without a more "scientific" apples to apples test. The biggest difference for me is that my yoke no longer randomly disconnects like it did in Windows 8.1. My PC boots (marginally) faster, and its just a nicer interface, although that is subjective. I haven't had ANY problems at all with incompatibilities whatsoever. I highly recommend upgrading no matter what version of Windows you're currently running, but especially 8/8.1 users. If you're worried about stability on the preview, you could use the slow update cycle. I'm on the fast cycle and haven't had any issues. In any case, RTM is just around the corner, so it may be worth waiting for that if you're the super cautious type.
  12. Adding an answer to the first few posts, I feel like my system is pretty balanced in P3D. Both the CPU and GPU are relatively equal bottlenecks depending on the scenery. I run an i7 5820K (12 threads with HT on), and two GTX 970s in SLI. I have most settings maxed (with a few tweaks/exceptions) and get 30-40 FPS on average. In rural areas, I'll even hit my monitor's 60fps cap (I use Vsync). So yeah, in conclusion, a powerful CPU is very important, but so is a powerful GPU. As technology changes (DX12 etc.), the GPU will become more and more important. If I was building my PC again, I probably would wait for the new Intel Skylake line and buy the "bang for buck" i7 from that. If I had to buy one now, it would be a 4790K. I don't feel X99 & my 5820K has been worth the premium I paid - that money would have been better invested in more expensive GPUs.
  13. For those addons, yeah, its pretty normal. Vector for me seems to have the biggest hit. I don't experience OOMs without it installed. With it, I often get it mid flight. Its far from ideal, but I've been working around it by setting my texture resolution in the P3D settings menu down to the minimum. Its very noticable on the ground, but not noticable at all from anything over 3000 ft (in my opinion). It also has the welcome side effect of dramatically increasing frame rates for me. Its just something we've got to deal with until LM release 64 bit, which could (understandably) still be a fair while off. Not to mention, we'll have to wait for addon developers to fix their addons for 64 bit. I'm no developer, but I imagine that will probably require almost a full rework of an addon. Best way around it for now is to use the autosaving feature that I believe FSUIPC has. Doesn't work for people like me that use FS Economy though. :(
  14. Seems like you might've accidentally downloaded the update for the FSX version of ASN. If not, I'd just try fully reinstalling ASN and see what happens.
  15. Thanks guys, but my PC was built from scratch about 6 months ago. As you can tell from my CPU, I'm running an X99 motherboard, which is enthusiast grade, with 16GB of DDR4 memory. The bottleneck just can't be related to hardware.
