  1. One last thing , From reading all you're posts , I do believe those who have the same issue I have, it is likely a learning curve we are going through. My problem in not related in anyway to autogen , or settings since I have turned all that down to bare minimum with the same results. My system needs to be upgraded to take advantage of this new 64 bit platform. I think my system is just in shock that it has a real program to use now. Right now I am running 2 R9 200 GPU's in firewire..8 Gig of ram , And a 2 TB HD at 7500 RPM , I have a 8 Core / 8 Thread Processor running at 3.7 GHZ. My goal is to increas ram to 16.. Replace the HD to Solid State, and get a high quality GPU with 8 gig on board, Yes A Nvidia card, bout time huh?
  2. Thanks for all the posts guys. means a lot ! I tried resetting mt CFG, ans that was okay for 1 flight, when I reloaded the sim, it came back again . I have tried the Vsync as well.. I have even tried pulling all my settings to minimal , still every 2 to 3 seconds is a pause. Now I know I need to update my system some more to take advantage of what P3D has to offer. I just made the switch from FSX Gold.. I waited until P3D came out with a 64 bit simulator, and I would not switch back if someone paid me too. I am very impressed with the overall package, and the work Lockheed Martin did with our beloved third party developers. I know this is the Sim of the future, the one I have waited for for 10 years. It may be a while since I am on a fixed budget. I will add more ram and finally get the SD HD I have been wanting, I will post back if I see any changes! Thanks Again !
  3. I Just bought P3D V4, and have loaded Orbx FTX Global and North American landclass, Once I installed Northern California however, My Screen freezes every 2 to 3 seconds even with fair FPS . If I go to an area with Global Base and Landclass only, then there are no issues . Anyone else have this problem ?
  4. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem. I loaded through FTX Central the updated V4 version. First loaded FTX Global Base, Ran it for a while ( No Problems ) I then loaded the North American Land Class ( No Problem) I Then loaded the Northern California. When I ran it , the screen freezes every 2 to 3 seconds even though I am getting 40 to 50 FPS. I also Loaded the Central Rockies , Same deal ! If I go to an area where FTX Global and North American Land Class are the only scenery present, then no problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue ?
  5. We can speculate all we want about Steam vs MSFSX but the fact remains that any future of FSX the program rides on Dovetail and no where else. I will admit there is some improvement with SE. The reason I uninstalled it was the interaction with my original version that caused me to have to re-load MSFSX and start over and I wont consider reloading SE until all the add-on's I put my money on work with the program. I have seen Dovetail reaching out and correcting issues based on priority and that's good. I have decided to do the old wait and see. I hope that Dovetail can one day create a flightsim more up to date but that might be out of their hands for the time being. I will stick to MSFSX until I am sure which program will lead us into the future. In my opinion MSFSX and SE are just to get us by for the present.
  6. Regarding ILS approaches Here are 2 videos that will answer that question in detail . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijpiqYldYOY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLW8XbjQctE Now I know that the person who made these video's is in the hall of shame here at avsim, but the videos really will help you learn ILS systems. Give it a try.
  7. Hi everyone, I read an interview located in the AVSIM forum called the" Janitor" In that interview Tom expressed a wish for a new section in this forum called " Volunteer’s Wall of Pride " . With the sad news of his passing from us, could we create this for him? Could we put his name at the top of the list? We have all seen the ugly side of this forum. How soon we forget all the good and helpful people who have made it really a great place to be! I have read many of Tom's Posts and he could argue the points if he needed too, but his tone was always that of getting the correct answers to you and helping correct any issues you were having. He did it with honer. Just a thought Darrin
  8. I have no words.... But I know you're at peace now. God bless you Tom !!!
  9. Anyway you look at it we are talking Microsoft right? If we use the past as a base of measure then I might get on board at SP2 or above. Windows 7 is a 64 bit platform and FSX is 32. Seems like time is on my side. ^_^
  10. Thanks, But I don't think is has anything to do with a degree in computer science but rather a fear of cost and retooling. In other words a quick buck rather than a look ahead. These software guys have proven that they can take an old program and push it right to the edge and I take my hat off to them. My question is how will flight simulator be advanced for the future... who will last? I look at it like this: You can be in one of three categories 1) You are on the train 2) You are on the tracks 3) You are on the side of the tracks I want to know who will be driving the train? That is where my hard earned money will go
  11. Wow, what conversations we have going on here. From what I have put into this thread and what I have read. I know now this is why I have not moved from FSX Classic and continue to monitor where flight simulation is headed. The future is indeed up for grabs. I still purchase products that are compatible with FSX and P3D. Will we move to 64 bit? Well we can't live in the stone age forever but for those who have put their stock in 32 bit being the future of simulation must have monkey vision . I am 55 years old so you would think I would be one of the simmers to settle for what we have. I am not afraid of change. I know there are some developers who are resisting a 64 bit platform and that indicates a business plan that won't survive the long term and did not think ahead of where we are. Come on guys, pro active not re- active.
  12. Has anyone heard of problems with FS-passenger not detecting switch changes for landing / beacon lights ? I am leaning towards the FS-panel causing the mis-reads. My reasoning is it is directly linked to the panel folder of the aircraft. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks
  13. ThanksI will be watching for this development . I have not ruled out X-plane as an alternative but I want to see third party groups in the process along with an all groups consideration . Having a 64 bit platform on the market, X-plane put themselves in a good position. All it would require now is a whole community market view.
