Serious issue with ATI and Steves DX10 fix? Tears and Spikes everywhere

Ive tried everything to do with BP and autogen density.....even with literally no settings maxed these r still here.....its a ATI DX10 issue :( i have tried everything! I am not giving up lol we will figure this out.....waiting for Steve to look into it a little i hope he'll work some magic. Ill continue to troubleshoot....

 

 

P.s all my Oc Settings r factory for the moment to eliminate that option

That is about the scariest fsx.cfg I have ever seen.  LOD_Radius 9.0?  Affinity Mask 1344?  Max_Texture_Data=711?  Come on now!  We are trying to help our fellow members here.  That config could not have been made Bojote's fsx tuning website.  In any case, if the individual used that website to tune his config, he should do it through the link and not copy and paste your config.  It won't work.

This problem has to do with AA. I have a 7770 and I have the same problem if I use MultiSamplesPerPixel=8. If I go back to 4 then the problem goes away.

Mine goes away with 4 but I switched back to dx9 for now because I still get some shimmering with 4, but I will do some more test tonight when I get home

I set it in the fixer. Only thing I have in Radeonpro is AF 16x and vsync

I caannnttt wait to go home and try this....this is just one thing i didnt try yet....

 

So ur radeon pro is

 

Use app settings and then 16x AA and vsync? No 8EQ ? Frame limit? Plz upload all ur settings in test from each tab....

HI Jim: Those figures come from a very, very old post (which I followed and tested for a few months) that was refuted in a very long post (found here) by Nick.

 

It is worth mentioning that this formula was for DX9 only!!!

 

The results obtained from a large number of users was published on the Digital Theme Park site - I even used (maybe still have) that little calculator tool which Padolamap has shown in post 38.

 

I was happy with the results at that time, but in reverting to a more normal cfg, found no discernible difference between them. I will did it up again and re-try against modern hardware and DX10.

 

While saving forum space - I sent Yorgos a modified fsx.cfg early yesterday, in the "DX10 is Amazing" thread a couple down, and have no response from him, so following this thread and his problems in other threads - I think he may be a troll. "Tried everything and nothing works."

This problem has to do with AA. I have a 7770 and I have the same problem if I use MultiSamplesPerPixel=8. If I go back to 4 then the problem goes away.

 

I am using MultiSamplesPerPixel=8, MultiSampleQuality=8 and it seems to work OK. I found my solution was the Priority setting. I can run OK at Normal or Above Normal, but High or Realtime will not work properly.

 

 

 


Spikes are caused by memory starvation. You are asking your CPU/GPU to render things faster than your system has the capability of rendering. High settings cause this.

 

I think Jim is 100% correct with this statement, at least that has been my experience.

I have the same exact problem in DX10 with the Fixer and guess what? I'm using nVIDIA GTX 780 with their latest driver, had to revert back to DX9 (works fine) till I find some solid fix.

Post number 29 - Jim is perfectly correct - you are overloading/stalling your gpu. This will always cause spiking.

 

There is a possibility that incompatible textures will cause this, but in my own DX10 original testing a year ago, using Road Traffic as the trigger, I could always force spiking, and did publish many screenshots of this phenomena. 

 

Bring your fsx.cfg down to these settings, and - providing the GPU is not overheating - your spiking should disappear.

I know for a fact a tweaked fsx.cfg will still give me my issues.....i have tried every possible .cfg......like i said before i wont be by my sim computer for almost the whole weekend....this is why i cant test right away...i will the second im home.

I have the same exact problem in DX10 with the Fixer and guess what? I'm using nVIDIA GTX 780 with their latest driver, had to revert back to DX9 (works fine) till I find some solid fix.

 

It works in DX9 because you have to turn off DX10 Preview, shutdown FSX, then reload FSX.  That cleans your system up.  Try deleting your Shaders10 folder again in Users/(your user name)/AppData/Local/Microsoft/FSX/.  Most people who employ DX10 do not see these memory/Autogen spikes.  It has to be a setting too high, a bad tweak, or your display driver settings.
