R6025 Runtime Error caused by PMDG 777 SP1 ?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I'm posting to get a piece of advise about this error : C++ Runtime Error R6025: Pure Virtual Function Call .

So, when I came home after my holidays, I wanted to do a flight with the 777 but "Oh Surprise" SP1 was out, I started download it and install it.

And then, I wanted to start a flight. But after 10minutes of flying I had this error. I said to myself okay, don't panic, do it with another aircraft, I tried the 747. Same thing, after 15-20 minutes, Runtime error...

I had NEVER got this error befor installing the SP1 777 PMDG, and now, I can take every add-on I want, it will make it.

But that's not all, I tried for sure to search for a solution, and I found a topic where a man said that it's only a missing memory error and to help your comuter, you had to run CCleaner, QuickSys RegDefrag to defrag your Registry and to defrag your computer ( I used Auslogics Disk Defrag).

Then, it went well for a week. And after that week of non buggy flying, I started a flight and then BAM C++ Runtime Error Pure virtual function call...

And we are today, and I'm very sad because I can't make a flight when I'm 100% sure it won't bug...

My question is, do you think this bug may have been caused by the installation of the 777 SP1 (and after SP1b) ? And Second question, do you think that if I uninstall and re-install the 777 it will go fine ?

I thank so much in advance the man that can help me.

(I post this message here and on the PMDG forum to reach a maximum of people)

Kindest Regards,

Julien Wilkin

If you disable the PMDG modules in the dll.xml, does this fix your problem? If the PMDG module is not loaded, then the PMDG 777 will not load the next time you start up FSX. Did the problem go away?

There are a lot of recent discussions about this error but most have been centered around P3D. Did you right click your FSX folder, click on Properties, then click on the Share Tab and made sure the folder is being shared with everyone. If the folder is not being shared, then it will have a hard time communicating when functions are called. You should make sure all of the folders belonging to your FSX addons are also shared.

I got this error myself recently after installing ASN. I found the ASN folder was not being shared and the as_srv folder containing the simconnect was not shared too. I have not seen this error since sharing all of my folders. This is the responsibility of the Microsoft Visual C++ program that is used to install your product (for the 777 and ASN, it was Microsoft Visual 2010). In the majority of installations of the 777 SP1 and ASN, there are no problems and it is just a few individuals like you and me who have/had this issue. Since I installed FSX in the default folders, this could be the reason why my folders were not shared. I really do not know exactly why but my issue is gone.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sir !

Thank you so much for your answer, I'll test both options tomorrow (it's 11pm at home). I'll keep you informed so that we can confirm the "answer" to the problem.

Hi Julien,

How can you sleep knowing there's a possible fix for your problem? LOL!! I posted this "solution" here in this forum and it worked for a couple of other individuals. Some others are still looking though. Hope it works for you too.

Soooo, I have just tried the first solution of disabling all PMDG modules. I tried a flight wth the iFly 737 and while I was begining my descend... << R6025: Pure Virtual Function Call >>.

And I'm now going to try the sharing folder solution I really hope it will work, I'm so excited to find out

Hi,

Bad news, After sharing my "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" folder, I checked that all the folders insight were also shared and they were, I tried the same flight that the one with iFly 737 but this time with the PMDG 777... I was just arriving at the holding point and then R6025 error...

I looked at the "Evenement Observer" (Sorry don't know the name in English my Win7 is in French) and apprently the module which bug is the " terrain.dll " (I joined you the report) Absolutely not the PMDG's and I didn't install any scenery since a while.. I don't know..

apprently the module which bug is the " terrain.dll "

The terrain.dll crash or error indicates your FSX/Display Driver sliders are set too high. Individuals who have received the terrain.dll error have eliminated it completely by reducing their settings. Return your FSX settings back to the default or set them no higher than those shown in the AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide (located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots). I do not know of any computer system that run FSX at the max settings for any length of time without an issue. Maybe one will be built in 2050. FSX is an old program and cannot take advantage of some of the latest technology that makes other games run perfectly.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I'll try that, but that sounds a bit weird to me knowing that I don't set max settings but reasonable settings (due to my computer a bit old) and also that I didn't have any issues since I installed Win 7 64 bit a year ago now...

But I'll try, I have nothing to lose. A big thanks for your answer !!! =)

Hi,

I have just taken a look at the guide and I set lower settings that you described for all tabs.. I don't know if it is a good idea to up my settings.

I join you here, photos of my configuration :

I set the trafic to 0 because I'm using IvAp so I don't need the default trafic.

I hope this fixes your problem. You do not have a very powerful system, especially the i5 660 CPU. It is way down on the benchmark scores in comparison with the latest chipsets - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5+660+%40+3.33GHz (I have the i7 4770K at the top of the benchmarks at this link and even I have issues running FSX with very high settings!!) So, having high settings is definitely not recommended. Unfortunately your graphics settings may not be all that great, especially for the PMDG 777. I looked at the recommended specs for the PMDG 777 on the PMDG website and your system is way below the "recommended" specs (but still meets the minimum specs for running). Moving up to the Ivy Bridge chipset (2600K or higher) would be better but understand the economics of purchasing a new computer. FSX is more dependent on the CPU than the GPU and it was the exact reverse with FS9.

In your OP, you stated you received the R6025 error with any aircraft (first the 777 and then the 747) so I cannot see this as a fault of the PMDG 777. I think high settings is the culprit in your case. If you can live without Autogen, I would turn this setting off or reduce it to the minimum. Autogen requires a lot of power and eats up a lot of system memory. We cannot be sure that lowering the settings will eliminate the R6025 errors but, if you have your FSX settings set to default and you still get the error, then I would guess that it is an addon that is not performing properly (but not the PMDG 777).

Hope this helps.

Hi,

First thank you so much for the help you provide me !

I'll test to set even lower settings, but "allez", I understood that my computer has become too old for those things... But hey "C'est la vie" (as we say), 4 years of good and loyal services.

If I find the courage I'm maybe going to try a re-installation of FSX but I'm not sure.

Once again, Thank you !

Kindest Regards,

Julien W.

Jim sorry to bump this one, I'm also having r6025 issues. Alas it's not just my 777, my lds 767 did it tonight. Can you bbriefly explain how I share the fsx folder and the asn folder please. They are both in the default folders position. Many thanks as always

Here's a link about sharing with pictures - http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/3434911/how-share-folders-without-homegroups-in-windows-7/

You can also take ownership of the folders.  Download a program called TakeOwnership and after you install it, go to the fsx folder, right click it and select "Take Ownership".

This thread is pretty old and there still is no definitive fix for the pure function call (except LM says they fixed it in the latest hotfix to P3D).  LM says it occurred when transitioning between high resolution scenery to default which indicates most likely a graphics driver problem.  This is why my recommendation to lower the config settings and graphics settings has worked for some.  You are causing a lot of resources to be placed on changes in graphics.  Personally I have not seen the R5025 error in either FSX or P3D (even before the hotfix to P3D) since reinstalling Windows and the sims.  I do keep my config settings set at conservative values and do not use tweaks.

In any case, it has nothing to do with the 777 or lds 767.  It is your settings and configurations.

Thanks Jim.

I found its asn doing it. You're right it's not the 777 or 767. I've posted in their support forum.

Cheers for the reply, you really do go the extra mile. Thanks again
